EXCLUSIVEInside the bitter fight between the Mormons and small town America: Church accused of 'bullying' picturesque hamlets into letting them build towering temples
Daily Mail UK ^ | June 16, 2024 | Miles Dilworth

When the rural neighborhood of Lone Mountain, Nevada, stood up to the might of the Mormon church, they may have anticipated an explosive argument.

But not literally.

'We've had people setting off fireworks,' says resident Erin LeDoe. 'It was a neighbor who lives up against the mountain. They were setting off what were basically large cannons, right outside her backyard.'

Those behind the pyrotechnics are thought to be supporters of a planned Mormon mega temple - and members of the church itself.

Their target was a local woman who had fiercely opposed it, along with many of her neighbors, on the grounds that the proposed 216-foot tall building would dwarf their homes and destroy their peaceful idyll.

Despite its name, Lone Mountain is just one of several rural towns across America taking on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS), commonly referred to as the Mormon church, over its plans to plant 'humongous' temples in the heart of their communities.

Residents claim the proposals ride roughshod over local planning rules, designed to preserve the character of these unique settlements.

Yet simply by defending their land, locals have ignited the ire of their religious neighbors, who have labeled opponents as 'bigots' and threatened to sue those who resist.

And while the church flexes its legal muscle, it mobilizes its members by issuing rallying cries to descend on town halls from far and wide in a bid to show their projects have mass support.

Ecclesiastical leaders say the size of these temples is 'essential' to their religious practice - and therefore protected by law.

But many of their own members have poured scorn on these arguments, while others have suggested it is merely a cynical ploy to bolster the church's vast real estate portfolio.

They put Jesus in their name to convert people to an anti-Jesus cult, and it is somewhat effective.

Pagan religion that perverts:

• Jesus Christ
• the Gospel that leads to salvation
• the attributes of God.

Interesting...when the mulsims around here are not buying christian churches, they are bullying local zoning laws to bypass restriction in order to establish and build mosques...

Historically speaking, run ins with their “gentile” neighbors are pretty common. The townspeople need to get a zoning ordinance put in place forbidding structures over such and such a height. Assuming their local reps aren’t bribe-able or easily intimidated. Worst case, two can play the harrassment game.

Every person has the right to worship God as best he or she understands Him. And to do so in peace. But that right ends where the rights of others to do the same begins.

The Mormons discussed in this article are violating that. Trying to tilt the rules toward their favor. Would a Baptist church be given permission to build a sanctuary that's over 100 feet tall in the middle of rural Nevada? I doubt it.

Lone Mountain is not a rural town, it’s a Northern suburb of Las Vegas as you can see plainly from the pictures.

North Las Vegas has been heavily Mormon for decades, and LV itself was a Mormon way station for their teamster wagons going to and from San Bernardino in the 19th century. I-15 is essentially that road.

So Mormon temples in the area aren’t uncommon. What IS uncommon is the size of the new temples, which is clearly Mormon Big Man intimidation of all the other churches which are mostly rather demure in their sizing. They did it in Tucson a decade ago, a city that they had almost no significant Mormon population prior to the last 30 years.

But Mormonism is growing rapidly. They don’t abort their kids, they import lots of beaming simpletons from Central America and Mexico as converts (”come into our church! we will get you a legal visa into El Norte!”), they have tons of money from the massive inflation in Utah as California Normies flee what they created, and they are now 11 million people vs maybe 2 million 50 years ago.

People don’t understand that these guys are riding a mountain of cash and their own relentless recruiting drive into their multi-level marketing scheme masquerading as a religion.

I think Mormons are generally good neighbors and nice people but I sure wouldn’t want to live in a majority Mormon area - the social dynamic changes a lot.

I find it interesting that we see a good many anti-Mormon articles written by our media. But, for some strange reason, we do not see much about a certain religion that must not be named. Here’s a hint:

Which of the following is morally wrong?

A: Hitting your wife
B: Slavery
C: Eating bacon
D: Marrying a child
For that certain unnamed ‘religion’, the accepted answer is C.

Not at all. We can regard Mormonism with the same respect due dog droppings. We didn’t cause it, we can change it, and we don’t need to bring it home with us.

So then it sounds like we do attack Mormomism. Why do we attack Mormomism?

What’s conservative about that? This is a conservative site.

They are simply victims in this cult.

And, uh, a correction: according to the All Knowing Internet, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is now SEVENTEEN MILLION as of about a year and a half ago.

Lotta White boys pedaling around the world with their skinny ties and name badges to do that!

And remember kiddies, they still demand 10% tithing. You’re off the boat if ya don’t pay up!

Not bad for a gig that started out with some guy in upstate NY comin’ up with a wacked out story of some Moron giving him a pair of 3D glasses so’s he could read the Secret Tablets...there’s a reason Sunn Classic Pictures was based in Utah! Von Daniken would approve...

And why the Deep State Cloud was built in Bluffdale.
