End Times Ping
FReemail me if you wish to be added to or removed from The End Times Ping List.
Maranatha!
Thank you for this post!!
Don’t spend time studying what others believe, instead study the bible.
That’s what Paul commended the Bereans for - searching the scriptures daily to see if what was said is correct.
It does not matter what Darby or Ignatius or Billy Graham or the Pope thinks or says.
As Jesus said, man should live by every word from the mouth of God. Man is fallible.
You lost me there. Many before Darby (including some of the Early Church Fathers) indeed held millennial views, but no one before Darby held today's pre-millennial Dispensationalist schema of the End Times before him. Not even the Reformers. It was almost entirely his own invention.
The majority of Christians today (and who have ever lived, for that matter) do not ascribe to this schema. It was not developed until the early 19th century. It originated in England but is mostly held by many (not all) American evangelicals and fundamentalists and is not the historic interpretation or position among Christians. As the majority of Christians in the world are either Catholic, Orthodox and other Eastern Churches who do not ascribe to modern Dispensationalism vastly outnumber the American influenced Evangelical Protestants and Protestant Fundamentalists that are the ones who primarily embrace modern Dispensationalism, it is important to point out that it doesn't represent the views of most Christians.
I know it makes some Rapturists angry that other Christians would dare to point out there are differing views among Christians about this, but it is what it is.
And So Come Lord Jesus!
However it comes about We as Believers know Not one of Your Blessed Pronocments will not come to Pass. Jesus Will be King of the Universe and God Almighty will be Praised and Glorified for Eternity!
.
Jesus Is Lord!
Other good advice: Don’t go with the “doctrine de jour”, go with the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of the Bible. How do you do that? Start in neutral, not with one’s own pet doctrine.
I’m writing a book called “The End Times”. Hope it will help.
How many know there are two parts to Jesus’ second coming? Part one (”the great catching up of the church AKA “the rapture” (I Thess. 4:17)) where Jesus comes FOR his saints launches Daniels’ 70th Week AKA the seven-year tribulations. Part two of his second coming (Armageddon) where Jesus comes WITH his saints ends the tribulation.
Aaaay-MEN.
Just stop all this pulling of theological lint out your shorts and study scripture.
I don’t ascribe to any “systematic” theology theories, but just because lots of people before or after a certain time believed something should be taken as warning sign to not base one’s beliefs on those of others, rather let the scripture and the Holy Spirit be your guide.
So, If the bible is not *clear* on a certain topic, it should be held in tension - not used as a foundation to build a set of beliefs that are not clearly taught in scripture.
Phil 2:12
All of this is well said on your part. Thank you.
If y’all can recall, there was a true coffee-table sized book with all the charts and explanations of Dispensationalism, I believe first printed in the early 1900’s.
The author had worked evrrything out to all events, and then God’s reich.
During the church age, He is giving Gentiles the chance to have faith in Him and be saved, but Israel has just been set aside in a manner of speaking, for the time being.
Romans 11:1 I ask, then, has God rejected his people? By no means! For I myself am an Israelite, a descendant of Abraham, a member of the tribe of Benjamin.
Romans 11:25-29 Lest you be wise in your own sight, I do not want you to be unaware of this mystery, brothers: a partial hardening has come upon Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in. And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written,
“The Deliverer will come from Zion, he will banish ungodliness from Jacob”; “and this will be my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”
As regards the gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But as regards election, they are beloved for the sake of their forefathers. For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.
God Himself tells us through Paul that He has not rejected and replaced Israel, that His covenant promises to them still stand.
You give yourself too much credit for being able to control others.
And what's a *Rapturist*? I tried googling the term up and it doesn't appear to exist outside of your fabrication of it.
All well stated but entire cults are alive and well because they heed not that advice.
Those who follow a “pope” will add all sorts of made up traditions and false doctrines to push their belief systems.
Those who follow a sabbatarian sect swear by it instead of Christ’s finished work and resurrection.
WOF follow a hardline that if you are not healed or don’t flourish financially, you don’t “have enough faith” - says the man wearing glasses and hearing aids.
Lots of junk out there if you get my drift….
The Harpazo is in the Bible - those who study The Bible know it and believe it.
You clearly see the divide and misled folks out there.
They are legion.
Most people can’t rightly divide the Word of Truth.
To their shame….
That’s a good analysis. Thanks.
Thank you for this informative post!
God gave teachers. It is our responsibility to know from Scriptures if they are teaching aright.
I hope you meant God’s reign
Anyone can have their opinions, but this dispensationalism is backed up by Scripture. Open your Bible and study it for yourself. Just because Catholicism and its offshoots don’t believe it, doesn’t make it false.
