Luke 2:4-7 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the town of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no place for them in the inn.
Both God and Luke know the difference between *only* and *firstborn*.
God gave us His ONLY Son. Mary birthed Jesus as her FIRSTBORN son.
From the Greek....
https://biblehub.com/greek/4416.htm
Original Word: πρωτότοκος, ον
Part of Speech: Adjective
Transliteration: prototokos
Phonetic Spelling: (pro-tot-ok'-os)
Definition: first-born
Usage: first-born, eldest.
Other children followed and His brothers are listed in Scripture and His sisters are mentioned as *ALL* His sisters, implying 3 or more.
I read the whole thing, something I was forbidden to do by the Catholic church growing up as a Catholic.
When tempted by Satan Jesus said;
“It Is WRITTEN!”
.
Not just once did He say That!
‘I Will Send The Comforter....
Jesus
Yes, he went on to quote the Book of Deuteronomy in this passage. Are we to understand from this that we are only to read what is written in these few verses of Deuteronomy? Regardless, this passage says nothing about the Bible being sufficient for everything a Christian needs to know and practice. There is no such teaching in the Bible. If the Bible alone is such a foundational principle of the Christian life, it should at least be explicitly stated somewhere.
Amen. After his Ascension he sends his Spirit to guide his Church into all truth. But that still doesn't prove (or even address) the issue of the "Bible Alone."
Regardless, this passage says nothing about the Bible being sufficient for everything a Christian needs to know and practice.
Rev 22:18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book,
Rev 22:19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
There is the above to think about.
So what is YOUR test of truth. What do you test it with?
I can only conclude your test of truth is the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Truth is what ever you decide, not God?
We may use another source, it may contain the truth. But it is NOT THE TRUTH IN ITSELF. It needs to be tested with God’s Word.
Bible Alone-——?
No -—No Way.
We who walk with Jesus Have The Holy Spirit who brings All of the WORD
to mind.”It Is Written” is All before our eyes and heart. We walk with Jesus as a Friend and share His Love for the lost. It’s God’s Spirit that convicts the lost in hopes that that will embrace salvation in in Jesus.
The Great ‘I AM’
“THE WAY,THE TRUTH,THE LIFE!”
.
Nobody comes to The Father
But By ME.
.
JESUS
but it never says that it and the Holy Spirit are all we need as Christians. Anywhere. Never.
== == ==
So, what else do I need?
Or else I go to hell?
It’s right next to the words “Incarnation” and “Trinity”.
Both words are nowhere in the Bible, but real Christians still believe them.
The faith doesn’t need everything spelled out in extreme detail in the Bible to be taught. That’s Protestant tradition.
Well, the gates of Hell prevailed against Peter not once but three times in a row. So, it can't be a church founded on Peter or dependent on Peter.
Jesus did NOTHING but appeal to Scripture to validate His claims and condemn tradition added onto it.
Doesn’t matter who does it.
Adding to God’s Word never ends well. It always results in bondage and corruption.
“We Walk By Faith Not by Sight”
The books of the Bible, including Revelation, were written individually, so this passage is speaking about that book.
The Book of Deuteronomy says the same thing: Does that mean we aren’t to accept anything written after Moses wrote Deuteronomy?
That's like saying Jesus Himself is not enough, but since that's something Catholicism does all the time with all the *sacred tradition* and sacraments, rituals, etc you all add, it's no surprise you don't consider His Word to be adequate.
For your consideration.....
John 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
I wrote this and then searched for chapter and Verse-—
Set your mind on things unseen Not Temporary.
So Jesus was a liar or a fool. Got it.
Maybe you should rethink your interpretation.
I'll quote you on that next time the rapture comes up because the first thing Catholics do with Protestant teaching is throw that out that it is not explicitly stated in Scripture the way inn which they approve, then it doesn't count.
And that's happened right here on this very thread as far as *faith alone* and the truth that Scripture alone is sufficient, the very God breathed Holy Spirit inspired words of God given to us.
It's really a shame Catholics find what God did for them and provides for them to be so lacking that their religion needs to add to it.
JESUS is the Rock on which His church is founded.
The organization naming itself a church claiming the foundation of a mere man is NOT the body of Christ.
