I look at street preachers as “working a job”.I have no unkind words for them. They are doing what they are supposrd to be doing.
para1 stsnds.
para2 no, my business here is open comment, whether ‘good’ ot ‘bad’, depending on the subjecI hold a Jeffersonian idea on religion.
para3 no
In my fits of sanity, the definition I have supplied, will have to do.
Truth, a la Sherlock Holmes, whatever is probable, minus the impossible, will lead to the truth.
Now, Judaism squabbles aming all the rabbis, all the orthodox, reformed, and Russian rabbis in the talmud.
Christianity squabbles between the catholics and protestants, unto wars, then came yhe other breakaways, to where the pentecostsls call episcopalians gods frozen children. mohammeds are not worth believing because of their violent schisms.
The various Asian religions are not of conversions but of signposts how to live in this world.
I am just a 71 year old man, who had a boatload of confusions, troubles, and violent anger. Confusions have become understood. Troubles have become medical maladies, any of which could pull the plug. Anger has been corraled, and I am still learning.
What about the REST of the Christians that ain’t E’s?
List yer top 3-4 ‘issues’ and your denomination in our latest FR survey.
I also am 71, by the grace of God, and am not confused at the various dissensions and divisions, since they are due to 2 fundamental divisions: those who strongly esteem the Bible as being the sure, supreme, substantive, accurate and authoritative word of God, and those who do not.
The former (classic "evangelicals") have long attested to being the most unified large religious group (at least in the West) in key basic values and fundamental beliefs than their dead institutionalized mainline (esp. RC) counterparts.
The divisions among the former basically are consistent with 2 basic divisions, that of committed Calvinists and those of Armenians. The former usually hold to cessationism (denying Pentecostal gifts as Divine healing, and male-only pastors, and preterism (vs. futurist) eschatology and hold to OSAS (versus probationary theology). Aand may also practice paedobaptism. The the latter tend to be Pentecostal, varying in degrees (of holiness or contemporary, including women pastors), and usually and hold to OSAS. Yet, by the grace of God I feel I have refuted cessationism (while reproving excesses), OSAS, as well as women pastors and paedobaptism, etc.
However, in contrast to recognized cults (in which leadership is effectively held as the sure supreme authority - and which attest to the most unity), all can preach the same basic salvific gospel that Peter did in Acts 10:36-47.
For the redeemed are those who have been spiritually born of the Spirit (Jn. 3:2-7) by effectual, penitent, heart-purifying, regenerating faith (Acts 10:43-47; Acts 15:7-9) in the Divine Son of God sent be the Father to be the Savior of the world, (1 Jn. 4:14) who saves sinners by His sinless shed blood, on His account , rendering them "accepted in the Beloved" (Eph. 1:6; Eph. 2:6-9) - not deserved by any merit of themselves or any church.
And which faith is imputed for righteousness, (Romans 4:5) and is shown in baptism and following the Lord, (Acts 2:38-47; Jn. 10:27, 28) whom they shall go to be with or His return (Phil 1:23; 2Cor. 5:8 [“we”]; Heb. 12:22, 23; 1Cor. 15:51ff'; 1Thess. 4:17)Glory and thanks be to God.
In contrast to those who were never born of the Spirit or who terminally fall away. (Gal. 5:1-4; Heb. 3:12; Heb. 10:25-39)
The last sentence is where common agreement would be an exception, aside from whether regeneration precedes faith in the moment of conversion.
Yea!!
We're #2!!
Where do them pesky Wesleyans land??
i guess you missed the point of ‘confusions being understood’.
Here’s the gum piece to chew:
1. I don’t care what everybody else in the world believes.
2. I refuse to bother anybody with the stuff you believe.
3. You, have my heartfelt blessings in whatever you endeavor.
Yet you post in a religion thread...
yup! i posy it here, i post it bitchute, i post it youtube!
it has become ‘religion is politicd’ and “politics is religion’.
i became quite sngry, in the ‘80”s, when political candidates showed up iin the church aspeechifying.
me: religion is not politics, but you caan always bet on a stinking democrat to wrap thr two together.
the last halfway decent democrat was assassinated on live tv in 1963.
I agree, but the Democrats are not the only ones to do this.
There are WAY too many folks whose 'religion' IS politics!
They think that mere men can get themselves outta the mess that mere men have gotten themselves into.
Muslim migrants.
