Blessed Are You Oh LORD, Our God,
King of the Universe,
Ancient of Days,
LORD of Hosts,
Rock of All Ages!


He heals the broken-hearted,
and binds up their wounds.
He determines the number of the stars;
he gives to all of them their names.
Great Are You, Lord, and abundant in power;
Your understanding is beyond measure.

We Plead For Those
Who continue to Love and Support Your People,
In Spite of the Current Political Climate.

We Ask that this will open the eyes
of people in our own Nation.

We ask for forgiveness for ourselves,
Dear Father, and we Pray for Our Nation.
We ask You to reverse the trends of evil and selfishness
that have taken hold in our own Land.
We beg that You will restore Faith in You,
The One True God,
and that Our own Nation will Once Again be Known
as one who keeps Her Promises to Her Friends and Allies,
and NOT as A Covenant-Breaker.

Let all that has been Concealed
Be Revealed.

One of my favorite Contemporary American Authors is James Patterson. During the time I lived in Florida, Mom and I mailed books that we liked to each other. More often than not, the book was by James Patterson. He wrote so many of them. They always had a good story, good characters, and enough surprises to keep you turning the pages.

One book, however, caused me to stop reading in the middle of Chapter One. The story opened with a bad guy, living undetected, in a basement of a big house in South Florida. It would have worked anywhere BUT Florida, because the state is built on a coral ridge over an aquifer that connects to the Everglades. Houses are constructed on slabs of concrete that can only be poured after the the coral has been pounded down and compressed. New Construction is preceded by days of compressing the coral with giant jackhammers. Believe me, I Know, because the building of an apartment complex near my home inflicted the sound of coral pounding for weeks before they could even begin construction. From the lowliest Four Room Bungalow to the most Luxurious Mansion, Florida houses don't have basements. At least not any that I have seen in my 16 years there.

Both of the homes I owned in Boston had basements. I built a recording studio in one of them, using materials I found in the trash. I named my Studio "Trash-Tech" and actually had clients and students record their work there.

During a particularly rainy spring, the basement got flooded. Luckily all the expensive recording equipment was off the floor on a high counter with a steel rack holding all the modules. I was able to rescue the equipment and set it up in a spare bedroom, but the basement floor and anything touching it was ruined.

Sometimes I wish I had a basement. Yard tools and other bulky things need to be stored inside, away from the elements, and until I replace my shed, they are all on my porch, which looks tacky. Hopefully I will resolve that soon.

When it rains, the water just rolls down the hill, passes under my house, goes out the other side and fills the little pond at the end of the street. (Normally it's a swamp, but it's been raining so much that it looks like a pond.) If I had a basement, it would be flooded every time it rains, so I'm better off being raised above it.

Perhaps, somewhere, there is a mansion in South Florida that has a basement, but, if such a thing existed, it would be a marvel of engineering that would be famous. I don't recall ever reading about one, except in that James Patterson book. I have forgiven him, by the way, and still read his books, and have not come across such an egregious error since.

Today's Scripture gives us another cry from the heart of David. He speaks of his heart being "overwhelmed". The word has the effect of troubles flooding in , knocking down and destroying everything in their path. He calls on God "from the ends of the earth" to "lead me to the Rock That Is Higher Than I". It's an amazing word picture of David being led to the Rock, where he can be raised above his Tsunami of Troubles, and not be carried away by them.
