And I’ve missed it until now?!?

Well, you at least perhaps had previous opportunities to celebrate it.

Okay, I guess I also swiped it. My view leans more toward sharing something worth sharing. Even though shared opinions are subject to other opinions. In an earlier time, sharing opinions lead to productive discourse. Progress in thought made it productive.

Recently I decided to start reading the KJV of the bible again and read from start to finish this time. I just got done reading about Noah. It’s something I had to take a test on as a kid, in fact, because I went to catholic school. But when I read these stories I sort of skipped over a lot of the stuff that wasn’t action. Thanks for pointing that out. Happy Easter!

They answer a claim by some fool that Astarti, the name of a Babylonian goddess, was very similar to Easter. The fool goes on to point out that worship of Astarti was introduced into ancient Britain. Therefore, Easter is pagan in origin.

The “logic” is so stupid it makes my head hurt. First of all Christianity and the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection did not start in Britain. Also the holiday has never been called “Easter” in most of the world, including the countries where Christian belief first took hold. It’s called Passover in those countries. It’s only called Easter in English speaking countries. I think German speaking countries also. Christian belief came to Britain and Germany much later than the places that call it Passover.

No. I didn’t celebrate it. I read an article about it. Perhaps you should try that.

I’ve got the feeling I now know all I need to know about it.

Thank you.

(And a little snippy for Easter, aren’t you?)

Are you trying to set a record for the most falsehoods in a single FR post? I mean, you're certainly close to it.

For example:

then make up a pagan day called Easter that never falls on Passover.

But Easter does sometimes fall on Passover. Sometimes it doesn't. As I explained elsewhere, that's what you get when you tie Easter to the solar calendar instead of a lunar calendar.

Oh, and the name? The holiday was called Πασχα, pronounced "pahska," by the people who set it up. Centuries later, English and Dutch people started calling it "Easter". Did it only become pagan then? Because the original people who set up Πασχα didn't think it was pagan.

They have murdered more Believers than all others combined over the centuries

Lying and slandering are sins, friend.

Passover ALWAYS falls on Nisan 15. Jews observe the proper day each year, Easter is NOT Passover. A simple "Google" of Easter will explain where it comes from. Passover is declared by God in Leviticus 23 and Easter is man made.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-04-15/the-origins-of-easter-from-pagan-roots-to-chocolate-eggs/8440134

This is just an example of what you can find out. Easter was originally a celebration of Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess of sex, fertility, war, and religiously-sanctioned prostitutes. There are other names included in "Easter" and some appear in Scripture as evil things. "Ishtar" is from Babylon and Babylon represents all the myth religions up to and including the Roman church.

As for the Catholic murders, read "A Woman Rides The Beast". There might be something on You Tube.

Another source might be Chuck Misler's teaching on Revelation.

A Million or more were killed in one day in Europe and the RC church celebrated. Adolf Hitler was born and raised as a Catholic I'm not sure how he ended up, but he started as a Catholic. Certainly his Jew hatred was amplified by the pope at that time.

Before calling others liars and slanderers, try looking things up and do a little studying.

Total trash and lies. Lies that bring discredit on the name of Christ by making his followers look like fools.

How, pray tell, did this "Babylonian" holiday make it to England and the Netherlands without leaving ANY TRACE anywhere else, from Iraq (where Babylon actually _is_, or was), to Greece, to Italy, to France ... ANYWHERE in between? HOW did that happen?

In Iraq (Arabic), Easter is called "the Great Sacrifice".

In Greek, it's "Πασχα". In Italy, it's called "Pascha" (Latin) or "Pasqua" (Italian). In Spain, it's "Pascua". In Portugal, it's "Pascoa". In Romanian, it's "Paste". ALL of these words come from "Pesach" or Passover. Did southern and western Europe just not get the memo that it was supposed to be about Ishtar?

In Polish, Russian, Czech, and probably the rest of of the Slavic world, Easter is called by a name that translates to "Great Night". Did eastern Europe ALSO not get the memo that it was supposed to be about Ishtar?

A Million or more were killed in one day in Europe and the RC church celebrated.

I have no idea what you're talking about, and since you didn't make a specific accusation with names, dates, and places, maybe you should refrain from making vague accusations.

Adolf Hitler was born and raised as a Catholic

Oh, this old canard again. You know, Stalin was born and raised Georgian Orthodox and killed more people than Hitler did, but I don't hear anyone blaming his career on Georgian Orthodoxy. Do you?

I'm not sure how he ended up

Well, I am. He stopped practicing his faith at the age of 16. He fell in with organizations that were neo-pagan and violently anti-Catholic (one of them was called the Los von Rom Bewegung, the "Free from Rome Movement").

As an adult, he described himself to his dinner companions as a "pure heathen". His movement and its ideas were formally condemned in a Papal encyclical (Mit Brennender Sorge; "With Burning Sorrow").

He persecuted and murdered actual Catholics, priests, religious, and laypeople (cf Maximilian Kolbe, Titus Brandsma, and Franz Jaegerstaetter). He plotted to kidnap and probably murder the Pope. (In fairness, I should point out that the Pope aided and abetted plots to kill Hitler; read the book "Church of Spies".)

Repent and turn away from the lies you've been taught. Scripture says that love rejoices in the truth. What you're teaching isn't the truth. I know of no other way to put it.

“Easter was originally a celebration of Ishtar, the Babylonian goddess of sex, fertility, war, and religiously-sanctioned prostitutes.”

Think maybe Esther had anything to with that?

No, Nimrod and his wife had something to do with that. Ishtar was around thousands of years before Esther. Google will explain a lot if you dare to look.

Seems Esther was a contemporary of Ishtar.
The Bible is plagiarized from from older accounts that are then reformulated and retold.
