Rob Reiner’s ‘God & Country: The Rise Of Christian Nationalism’ film opened up this weekend at the box office, and to the surprise of all progressives and no conservatives, it absolutely bombed, bringing in a mere $38,415 over an extended four-day weekend.
The film opened in 85 theaters, averaging $451 a theater over four days, which is incredibly low. Assuming it had at least one showing each day (and likely it had several), it brought in around 112 dollars a day, or ten people a day spread across however many showings.
We’ve talking three or five people per showing, on average.
We’ve written before about the film, featuring the who’s who of bad faith liberals, such as Jemar Tisby, David French, Kristin Kobes Du Mez, Phil Vischer, Skye Jethani, William Barber, Russell Moore, and which alleges that politically active conservative Christians (all lumped together under the label “Christian Nationalism”) don’t understand True Christianity and have let politics subsume their faith.
The truth however if you take a look at who is delivering this message, it becomes clear this is a case of DARVO (an acronym for “deny, attack, and reverse victim and offender”).
To a person, the film’s talking heads all display eye-socket logs of theological compromise in service of politics. In this series of articles, we showed how “experts” of “God And Country” are either firmly outside Christianity in theology and practice or deeply compromised on basic Christian ethics. Two examples of the former:
Meet ‘God + Country’ Talking Head Simone Campbell: A Queer-Affirming Zen Mystic Who Denies Jesus’s Miracles
Meet “God + Country” Talking Head Anthea Butler: Christian In Name Only, Quite Literally
Despite these folks shilling for their terrible movie, no one cared about it it, which is great because it had nothing valuable to say.
Rob Reiner does more for antisemitism than would a hundred Nazi marches.
yeah but David French and Russell Moore are so earnestly hoping we will see the light.
How?
Not exactly
I don’t think anyone is calling for state religion except as a dog whistle by the woke and neocons
He is Jewish and his attacks on “Christian nationalism” (Christian patriotism?) are bound to generate push-back. Do we really like left-wing Jews accusing and lecturing Christians?
Turn this around and consider the response if a Christian produced a film about Jewish globalism.
He’s brazen
The old leftist Jews were more “keep your head down”
What David Mamet said his red dad and grandpa always said
Still dead from the neck up.
“Christian Nationalism” is wrongly worded if they’re talking about American individuals turning away from trusting in man and man’s gov’t and turning instead back to faith and trusting in the Lord.
“Christian Nationalism” has way too strong a political connotation and the Left takes full advantage of right-wing terminology confusion.
The right MUST get smart about the terms they use. The Right is very sloppy about their terms, often taking Leftist bait and falling into Leftist terminology traps. The Right needs to bone up on the book, “1984”.
The Left are serpents. The Right needs to do as Jesus said, “Be WISE as serpents but harmless as doves.”
Rob Reiner’s Jewish communist purpose, is to injure Christians by labeling Christianity as being akin to German National Socialism.
If the response to anyone’s position is to go after their ethnicity, you’ve already lost the argument.
We sure can use a little ‘Christian Nationalism’ about now. Would be a much better nation if true to Christ citizens had the greatest influence instead of rotgut demonic leftardism.
90% of congress identify as Christian.
If leftist Jews haven't figured out by now that true blue Christian conservatives are not their enemy, do they lack intelligence or just in neurotic fearful denial?
So Rob Reiner lost the argument? Agreed. Yet he still made it.
Quick, look up. The point is flying over your head.
“America was founded by those escaping England’s National Religion - the Church of England.”
Well that was true for the Plymouth Colony and it’s become part of the New England primacy myth that American schools perpetuate.
For some reason they like to pretend that Plymouth was the founding American colony, which of course it wasn’t, and that its often peculiar practices defined American culture, which they didn’t.
Jamestown was founded over a decade earlier. Its colonials were Church of England, and it was the colony’s established church until the Revolution necessitated a break with England. In 1789 Anglicans became Episcopalians. At about the same time Virginia passed a religious freedom act and there was no longer an established church.
All the same there were plenty of other Protestant denominations in Virginia while the Anglicans were in charge. Parliament had passed a religious toleration act in 1689 and the Virginia colony observed that when it suited them. I had Huguenot ancestors who were encouraged to settle there in 1700, joining my Anglican ancestors who had been there for maybe 80 years.
They are masters at using phrases of policy which are innocuous sounding or misleading
Leftists are like arguing with your femalion
What they accuse you of is often what they are doing themselves
Or accusing you of a shortcoming is frequently what they realize they are not doing for you
You’re not emotionally available enough canard is really about their behavior to you more often than if you are truly not emotionally available enough
But yes sir the left owns the language and has forever
Great leap forward always comes to mind
Just guessing I assume Stalin called holdomovar agricultural reform
I was meaning at an individual level, which I think Meathead is talking about. Sorry for the confusion!
The point you are missing is that I would not have mentioned Jewish, if Reiner had not attacked Christian. Reiner opened this can of worms. Your sensitivities seem selective.
Democrat positions are often based on emotion. Knowledge and reason are absent or strangely perverted. The Democratic party was the slavery party when it mattered. Now Democrats shame/blame America endlessly for slavery. Every time Democrats take a position you have to wonder, what is really going on? Often, it’s shifting the blame.
Jewish Democrat Rob Reiner warns of Christian patriotism. What might that reveal? Does he support Jewish patriotism for America? For Israel? Or is he opposed to all patriotism? The obvious alternative to patriotism is globalism.
For decades, the press obsessed about the “religious right.” The US was perpetually at war, hot or cold, with communism. Yet there was no mention, much less any concern, about the atheist left. There was all that blather about the religious right, when the real danger was from the atheist left. That was a misdirection big-time.
Jewish Democrat makes a film warning about Christian patriotism. Is Reiner a Jewish globalist like Karl Marx and George Soros?
Who are the globalists? What are their demographics? What do they believe? Once described and evaluated, does globalism make any sense?
You may be right. Let’s hope this kind of programming renders HBO (Disney, Netflix, and others) irrelevant.
