The sobering truth from Peter is that suffering for what’s right as God defines it is an essential part, an indispensable part, of the normal Christian life. So intent is the Apostle on getting this message across to us that he mentions it in every chapter of his first letter (1:6-7; 2:19-20; 3:13-17; 4:12-16; 5:8-10). This is his message because he’s well aware that, according to many in this world, Christians should be shamed and pressured to conform or be canceled. Peter says, “Don’t give in. Brace yourself to face whatever trials come your way with joy.” Wait, what? Please elaborate, Peter. He does in 4:12-19.
First, he wants us to understand that for Christians, fiery trials are normal, not strange (4:12). He begins the final section of his letter by returning to that theme he’s mentioned over and over: don’t be shocked by fiery trials for Christ; anticipate them; expect them.

If you have time to whine, you have time to shine.
This is a good article about suffering.
I always knew that suffering for being a Christian had its rewards.
Suffering because it’s the result of wrong doing is simply consequences and there’s no justification for complaining about it or reason to think it’s unfair pr pointless.
What gives me the most trouble is suffering that seems to have no point, like chronic illness.
I can see it as a means of purification, which thinking about it is preferable to persecution.
Like the old Donna Fargo song goes - “You can’t be a beacon if your light don’t shine....”
Mookbark.
I’m hearing you sister. Right now I’m crippled and bedridden with sciatica. The small Bible study group has been coming over to my place and are very keen on learning like hungry little birds. It must be quite a sight, me stretched out in bed with half a dozen chairs around. They are gaining a great respect for the Word whilst watching the congregation lose theirs. I don’t know how me being bedridden is supposed to mean anything because I’m I have an aching need a to stand up and give both barrels! I believe God has given me this desire which is fast becoming a need yet here I lay virtually crippled.
Still.... all things work together!
Tag line.
While you may be laying, stand and keep standing.
P.s. A chiropractor should know how free your sciatica nerve. Have you tried this?
Thanks SW!
Oh yes we will stand!
Many are now at that point where the unbelieving world no longer injects doubt but rather confirms their faith praise God.
Where this little group is concerned, the god of this world has lost! He is being resisted and exposed and is fleeing!!! Hopefully the congregation will stop laying out the rainbow carpet for him and will stop listening to the world for its take on reality. I made a promise to God that I would not jump ship unless they kicked me out and I rhave told them that very promise. They took it as me being humorous but I was deadly serious. When I’m on my feet we shall see.
I leave that in Gods hands.
As far as chiropractors go...I’m unsure.
God bless you FRiend!
Ps... Amen to your tag line!!!
there are stretches that can be done and massages to that nerve bundle to release tension in the bundle. Please consider looking into this.
May God’s Spirit abound in His presence in your group/ecclesia/church and reveal His love and truth to all as you grow in fellowship and love for one another.
May you find relief from pain, as your group prays for you in faith, believing that God is in the midst of you
Thank you so much for your encouragement!
At the moment the scriptures are jumping of the pages at us! It’s wildly exciting to say the least.
I will indeed get cracking with the exercises and as soon as I can tolerate being in a car will get some physio.
Good advice thanks again

Yes I can say this has been my experience. When I first became aware of giving thanks for persecutions and trials for Jesus’ sake, I’d literally get on my knees and give thanks. It really changed my perspective (renewing of the mind).
Your post immediately made me think of Paul’s thorn.

I’m sorry to hear you are in so much pain.
I’ll pray for a resolution of it for you.
I do not have that problem, thank the Lord, but was going to a chiropractor who once explained to me that a lot has to do with where the nerve is running down. In some people, it run down a slightly different path than normal, which leaves it more prone to getting pinched, and is more difficult to treat.
I guess adjustments can correct it, but with people whose nerve placement is off, it tends to slip back rather easily so they need more constant adjustment. That is what I recall him telling me but that was several years ago and I am not sure of all the details, mostly that it had to do with physiology and that the nerve passed through a more constricted part of the body.
Romans 8:18 comes to mind inn light of that.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
In light of the great suffering that we often experience, what is coming must be marvelous beyond our comprehension.
Oh amen to that sister!
And may well be closer than we think!
Maranatha!
I hope so as I am ready to be done with this all.
Any time the Lord decides works for me, but personally, the sooner, the better. This world has seen enough evil and suffering.
