I’ve been trying to put my finger on the Taylor Swift phenomenon for some time now. Evidently people pay obscene amounts of money to see her, and she is breaking world records on her latest tour. By all accounts (well, not quite all) it’s worth seeing, as Miss Swift parades out on the stage in outfit after outfit and dazzles swarms of people with a show like Superbowl halftime on crack.
What’s going on here really, though?

Yep, no different than most other musicians and entertainers.
I honestly cant name a single song of hers. If I go out of my way to listen to some of her greatest hits.. I sort of remember hearing one or two awhile back.
Vanilla Ice is still making music also.
She’s pretty much the only white popular singer out there today.

Her fans are teen and pre-teen girls.
They were, more than a decade ago. They grew up since then.
The one song I can remember is when she was releasing country songs, she released a song when was maybe 16 years old, titled “Tim McGraw”.....

Life’s too short for me to waste any time arguing you about the autotune myth. I have no business imposing my own beliefs on anyone.

IIRC, there was talk that it could be their last, but 42 years later and how many tours, there’s always been that speculation.
Their still touring and that marriage I was in lasted 5 years.

Swift is talented and her performances are enhanced by high energy dancing, flashy costumes and punctuated by lights and pyrotechnics all intended to wow the crowd. As for her persona, I see her as that hot high school cheerleader with a string of boyfriends and an inner circle of exclusive friends. She is looked on with envy by the other girls and guys dream of dating. Of course any of us who have been to high school reunions know that the hot cheerleader often didn’t turn out so well. I can see in 10 years another generation will be saying who’s Taylor Swift?
Just as her current fans no not of Madonna.
