I’ve been trying to put my finger on the Taylor Swift phenomenon for some time now. Evidently people pay obscene amounts of money to see her, and she is breaking world records on her latest tour. By all accounts (well, not quite all) it’s worth seeing, as Miss Swift parades out on the stage in outfit after outfit and dazzles swarms of people with a show like Superbowl halftime on crack.
What’s going on here really, though?

Some really great singers were not good entertainers, the same thing is true with Taylor Swift.
Someone mentioned Madonna, she wasn’t a great singer but could entertain audiences.
The only songs I would know that involve Taylor Swift are when she was maybe 16 years old and was releasing country songs, she can carry a tune and play instruments and writes many of her songs, she’s not a great singer, for some reason a lot of people find her entertaining.
When you offer nothing to the discussion, you offer insults and slurs, which applies to you.
For most entertainers they are a flash in the pan for a few years they are on top, then you never hear from them again.
She’s been around since she was releasing country songs 10-15 years ago, that’s an eternity in that business.
Maybe she finally figured out the rich soy boy beta types she’s seen in the past aren’t worth a crap?
I saw the Stones in the Kingdome in 81. Paid $125 for the ticket.
I’m not a TS fan, but she’s a pleasant change from the awful rap culture, and daily barrage of Beyonce and Jay Zee nonsense.
Like you, I am not a fan of TS, but you make good points.
At least she appears to be a NORMAL PERSON.
Her concert audience has been mostly pre-teen girls who believe in her simple love songs.
“I saw the Stones in the Kingdome in 81.”
We had plans to go down to that concert from Anchorage. We didn’t and I don’t remember why. I wasn’t a fan, anyhow, but my ex was.
I’m waiting for the blacks to complain about all the attention. “If she were black...”

Ok... so not much different than the price of a TS ticket in 2023. By the way, on the same ‘81 tour, I saw the Stones with Santana and Iggy Pop at the Silverdome in Pontiac.
Already pulling in more a billion each year from just this series of concerts.
At my show they had the Greg Khin Band open, followed by the J. Giles Band.
My wife and I went because we figured that would be their last tour
Taylor Swift has more than a hundred songs about ex-boyfriends but not one about making a sandwich for them. Hmmmmm.
She recently completed a tour across the U.S. playing to packed football stadiums, often multiple nights in the same city, to almost entirely white crowds.
I don't recall a single riot, looting, or reported act of violence at any of her shows.
Her fans are Millennials, as she is, who grew up listening to her. They haven't been pre-teens for a long time.
She’s an attractive singer who puts on a great show and has a mystique that young women want to emulate. If she could stay out of politics I’d give her a 10.
Oh, good grief. OK Magazine? And Karlie Kloss, it can be noted, is married to Jared Kushner’s brother.
She is a lefty and hates Trump. She encourages her fans to register to vote to defeat Republicans.
