The safety strap in Elizabeth Gardner’s #19 is a nice touch. Is it sexist to say a woman would be concerned about a baby floating down a river?
These paintings are just beautiful like our beautiful great God!
You are definitely on His cheerleading squad.
Some fabulous favorites in this collection….you really saved it up for the big ending with Alma-Tadema and He Qi, but there was a lot that preceded that, Tissot really shined with this subject-matter once again.
Agree fully.
Solomon, Gardner, Feuerbach, Mola, Goodall and Siemiradzki all deserve a call out along with Tissot, He Qi and Alma-Tadema.
Our cup runneth over....
Thanks, Scott.
By the way, I’ve noticed that Siemiradzki seems to enjoy including sun-dappled partial shade.
His use of light and shadow makes his bold colors jump out, it’s the first thing that attracts the eye. This particular painting would likely be unremarkable except that his colors are so spectacular that it elevates everything.
Flavitsky does this too…and to very good effect.
Well-spotted. Handling shadows capably must be difficult, judging by the seeming reluctance of so many to attempt it.
