If only Trump could have been a statesman we would not be in the mess were in. It's possible to be both tough and a statesman like Reagan was.

We didn't have any wars during Trump's tenure, so his form of statesmanship seemed to have had the desired effect. Our enemies knew not to cross Trump and our friends (like fellow NATO countries) knew better than to take advantage of us.

And BTW, just because Reagan seemed like a very "statesmanlike" person, he was tough as nails behind the scenes.
