As soon as Israel sends troops into Gaza, a chain of events will begin which nobody is going to be able to control. I believe that one of those events will be Hezbollah entering the conflict from the north. As I discussed yesterday, there is no way that Hezbollah is just going to sit there and watch Hamas get systematically wiped out by the IDF. Hezbollah is already mobilizing their forces and making preparations to join the fight. But if that happens, Israel is going to hit back extremely hard. In fact, there are reports that Israel has already warned Hezbollah that if it enters the war the Israelis will “destroy Damascus”…

“IDF will destroy Damascus, target Syrian President Assad if Hezbollah joins war; US warships will support Israel in war.” – Message relayed via France.

Unfortunately, this threat has not caused Hezbollah to back down.

In fact, Fox News is reporting that the Israelis are now “actively fighting a secondary front along Israel’s northern border with Hezbollah in Lebanon”…

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus said Wednesday that the Israeli army shelled the Lebanese border town of Duhaira and the surrounding area where the missile attack came from. He also said Israel was actively fighting a secondary front along Israel’s northern border with Hezbollah in Lebanon, in addition to the counteroffensive the IDF is launching in the Gaza Strip.

Just how much military might or effective presence on the battlefield would Hezzbollah gave on this situation if they “invaded Israel from the North?

I guess where I’m going here is how much of Israel’s military would have to be diverted and pinned down by mission needs in defending against a Helzzbollah invasion front in the North? Could Israel stop ir preempt such a Hezzbollah offensive by striking it and leadership in those other countries first?

It only make a sense that Hezbollah will launch its own offensive against Israel, given the Israeli commitment of troops and equipment to Gaza. I don’t doubt the Israelis are fully aware as well. The question to me is whether the US will join the hostilities when Hezbollah begins to threaten to gain the upper hand. I have no confidence in the decision making of the decrepit foreign policy gang in Washington, given the architects of both Benghazi and Kabul are running things.

Assaulting built-up areas is the most high casualty situation for military operations. This area is especially so since Hamas has occupied the area and prepped it just for this circumstance with underground tunnels. On balance, I would opt for isolating them and denying them water and food as a means of incapacitating them before ever entering Gaza.

I believe that Israel has likely communicated with their neighbors that any large scale action from their areas will be dealt with harshly.

I would think that Syria has its hands full, and Jordan wants nothing to do with the Palestinians. Egypt would probably want to join in...but they are going to be dealing with a million refugees in the next week. Logistically..their tanks would not be able to move towards Israel.

So...no. Syria will stay out of this round.

Thats what I thought. The $3-4 increase on day 1 brought in a quarter of a billion dollars to Iran...per day. And the same thing for Russia.

You cannot hide that much of a troop build up...so where they are going is pretty obvious.

I think the delay is more to prepare for a million refugees and to process the 300,000 reservists. They have to be on-boarded, and then equipped, and then positioned.

With a bunch of people becoming displaced...they are going to have to go somewhere. That somewhere needs to get resources in place—otherwise it becomes a holocaust.

I believe that hell is about to be unleashed in a way that most people cannot conceive.

The Israelis have nuclear bombs, but it is only a “Samson Option”, if Israel has lost in conventional warfare and is about to be overrun. They don’t have the depth in their arsenal that Russia, China, and America have. They are on a par with the second tier of nuclear nations, like India, Britain, and France.
