As I was reading your beautifully written argument, I decided to send you what I've included below. Then lo and behold you added it yourself!

"Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life."
There is a lovely internal cherry on top of this. If you have "the Son", you know Him intimately and have no need to be told who he is. But if you do "not have the Son of God", you are estranged from him and must be told whose Son he is.
