Post of the year. It must be frustrating for cult members, who don’t know if they will go to Heaven of Hell, and terrifying to suddenly wake up in Hell. That must be a heart rending shock to their existence. I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes. 👟 When I was a Catholic, and the Christians witnessed to me, all I said was, just tell me the truth. It appears you are NOT aware that it was Almighty God who commanded that false prophets be executed.
Appearances can be deceiving.
I’m not talking about false prophets, else I would not have included Jesus in the comparison. Off the top of my head what do we know of the execution of false prophets? Maybe less than five where Jesus is talking about the hard of heart believers stoning the real ones preaching their destruction and the same believers in his time failing to recognize the very Son of God or for that matter John the Baptist a prophet contemporary.
Would it be any different today under the same circumstances?

I do believe Joseph Smith is the only person God has called as a Prophet besides the succession of leadership in the Church of Jesus Christ in these latter days. Joseph was called to restore the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth from which it was taken following the death of the Apostles ordained by Jesus Christ.
Anyone else you know making the claim of restoring the Gospel of Jesus Christ? Apparently the Evangelical wing believes the Church never left. They then must have inherited the church from the Catholics which is ironic in the extreme. This thread being one of many examples of the irony.
So the ball is in your court to weigh the evidence. Although it appears you have your mind made up despite the evidence at your disposal. It appears about as difficult as it was for Judah to come to terms with the living Son of God. Ultimately they chose poorly.
He’s the one who requires that kind of track record for someone who claims to speak in His name and it’s got nothing to do with the sinlessness or perfection of the person speaking.
Jesus has not, nor has is father, made the claim his prophets are any different than you or I other than their calling by name from God himself and “Thus sayeth the Lord” from the lips of those called. That’s how it has been done from the beginning. It has not changed other than some people now believe there is no need for prophets, revelation, repentance Baptism, Authority from God, works, etc. contrary to the word of the Lord.
I suggest the need for prophets is greater now than at any time in the history of the earth. What makes you think otherwise.
