I’m not sure if you’ve noticed a quiet revolution taking place in most Western countries. For centuries, our calendar was based around the birth of Christ. The years before His birth were designated as BC (before Christ) and the years after His birth were designated AD (Latin meaning “Anno Domini” for “In the year of the Lord”).

BWAHAHAHAHAH
You are a sad little man. And really addicted to making sure everybody is your enemy.
Here’s reality, I’m an atheist. But I respect religion. But most importantly I respect FACTS. And the FACTS are that BCE/CE is not some new fangled plot to blot out Christ. It’s been around a long time. It’s largely used to talk about time frames in history before Christians got to that region. Nobody is being forced to use it. And anybody saying otherwise is at best a fool and at worst a liar.
This story shows up on FR every few years. I say the same things. And there’s always one flame war addicted idiot who has to start flinging his poo around. Congrats. You’ve proven yourself to be less than human. Buh bye ape
But how we annotate the laws, which isn’t the laws themselves, doesn’t really matter. Because as I’ve said repeatedly NOBODY IS FORCED TO USE BCE/ CE. If you wanna use AD go right ahead. Nobody gives a crap. There’s no great plot to blot out Christ.
That’s what I thought it was.
No there isn’t. You just proved it. All your yelling and screaming about our laws being tagged with AD proved my point.
In teaching if you’re talking about an area after Christendom got there it’s very common to use AD. Nobody is getting their career killed for that. Now you go talking about ancient South America as BC people are going to think you’re dumb, and that could kill your career. But that’s really on you.
Sorry but you’re simply ranting falsehoods. BCE and CE are NOT being used to wipe out Christ. Those saying it is are liars. And few things in this world are more pathetic than bearing false witness supposedly in the name of Christ.
Stop lying
When were “BCE” and “CE” first used?
I’m not asking the question to make you feel bad for not knowing the answer.
My purpose is to find the answer in case you might know it.
1708.
Who initiated “CE” and “BCE” in 1708, and what was the purpose?
He’s a quick history:

Now given the time frame and how much colonial Europe looked down on the world they conquered I wouldn’t be surprised if they were looking down on the “heathen world”: “you don’t get to calendar by Christ’s birth, you get this other label, cause you’re heathens”. In modern times it’s generally used in a more friendly way for the same parts of the world. Parts of the world where Christianity isn’t that popular and it seems a little odd to be defining their calendar by him.
The important thing to keep in mind is it’s been around a long time, and nobody is forcing anybody to use it. It’s not part of some plot against Christianity, it’s part of understanding the world is complicated and viewing it all through the same lens might not give you the most useful view. Even if the dividing line is the same if discussing Japanese emperors in the time before western contact BCE and CE just make more sense, it acknowledging they have a different history with the religion than the west does.
Academic and political elites are historically the most removed from true belief. What they believe in is acclaim, power and money. This belief system is most likely to have influenced the “BC” and “BCE” labels, which tells us it is derived from a belief in opposition to the Gospel of Christ.
When symbols and standards of measurement are simple, the intelligent thing to do is leave them simple. Adding new symbols is a burden to practical use, not a facilitation.
Jesus Christ is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
The moral imperative is to measure all time relative to him.
Those who hold on to their innate hatred of Christ prefer to eliminate anything that elevates him. This is the explanation for adding labels that were never needed.
“Think of the X in Xmas as a Greek Χ (Chi) rather than a Latin X and you’ve got the first letter of the Greek Χριστός (Christos).”
That is a rationalization and most certainly not the intent of those replacing Christmas with Xmas. To them, “X” plainly means ‘cancel Christ’.
