I’m not sure if you’ve noticed a quiet revolution taking place in most Western countries. For centuries, our calendar was based around the birth of Christ. The years before His birth were designated as BC (before Christ) and the years after His birth were designated AD (Latin meaning “Anno Domini” for “In the year of the Lord”).

What I was referring to was not the written, but the verbally calling it X mas on tv shows when they can just as easily say Christmas. It seems intentional.
“X” usually refers to the unknown. Christ’s birth, death, & resurrection are not unknown except for those who are trying to make it unknown to a younger generation. This is being accomplished in several ways as has been mentioned, but even those doing this may still have a limited opportunity to repent of this sin.

And honestly it makes perfectly good sense. since in the time frame it’s most commonly used most of the world had nothing to do with Christianity, or even Judaism. Talking about Chinese pre-colonial history in terms of when Christ was born makes no sense at all.
Christianity is Jewish at it’s root. Gentiles are grafted in to the Olive Tree.

I attended a Catholic run University. There was a Christian Brother there who taught a history class and he used B.C.E. and C.E. instead of B.C. and A.D.. I thought it was odd. This was at the start of all of the social justice bullcrap.
Now looking back, that was nothing compared to what this current Pope is doing to secularize the faith.
In this story B.C.E. and C.E. is referring to Before Common Era and Common Era.
Nothing a lie about it. It wasn’t used “sparingly” just not used by people who didn’t know better. Nobody is trying to appease China, it’s just intelligent use of terminology. If you’re writing a paper about the pre-colonial history of China and use BC and AD you sound like an idiot.
No. It’s NEVER been an issue. It’s used in the sciences all the time, for CENTURIES. The only thing that happens is that every few years some idiot “Christian” who wants to gin up fear to make money writes an article about how “they’re writing Christ out”. The “Christian” writing these articles is a liar, and the people who get freaked out about it are fools. I’m an atheist and I use the terms as they are MEANT.
There really is NOTHING in this for anyone who isn’t an idiot to complain about. Nobody is forcing anyone to use it. It’s commonly used where it makes sense, and often not used where it makes more sense to tie things to Christ’s birth. None of this has significantly change for over 200 years. If you’re upset about it you’re a fool being led by a liar.

But they aren’t really the same. That’s another part of the reason these other terms got invented. The church kept nudging things, maybe Christ was born this, oh wait no this, no wait this one. It’s actually the Christian world that decided it needed a way to define eras that the church couldn’t screw with.
I don’t care about AD in our laws you pointlessly insulting troll. It’s besides the point. The simple fact is people can use whatever notation they want, and nobody is forcing anybody to do anything.
Now really, grow up. The fact that you need to throw insults on this prove you know the facts don’t back you. You’re on the wrong horse. And you know it, but you’re too stubborn to admit it. So you stamp your feet like a child.
