Church [of England] Urged to Allow Same Sex Marriage to Boost Falling Congregation Numbers

Dwindling congregation numbers would be boosted if the Church of England allowed same-sex weddings in its churches, Parliament has heard.

Labour former minister Ben Bradshaw urged the Church of England’s representative in Parliament to change its stance on same-sex marriage, amid falling numbers of people attending services.

Earlier this year the Church said it would bless same-sex civil marriages for the first time, but its position on gay marriage has not changed and same-sex couples are unable to marry in churches.

Exeter MP Mr Bradshaw told the Commons: “There might be more weddings in church were the Church of England to allow same-sex couples to get married in church.”

Reading from a report, the Labour MP added: “In that context, does he welcome the commission’s conclusion as I do that ‘a family does not necessitate a certain type of relationship or specific family form, but what matters is the depth of the connections and support that can be relied upon’?

“Is this not completely inconsistent with the Church’s continued rejection of families where the couple happens to be of the same sex and its refusal to solemnise their committed relationships?”

Same sex to boost membership! Does nothing for procreation dummies! Also sounds like boosted membership for hell.

Their increasing wokeness is already why the congregations have been falling - pursuing more of the same will not achieve a better result. They believe a congregation will be blessed by straying further and further from the Word and obedience to the same?

The Christian Church in the West is in severe crisis. If they don’t do something about it, well the church will cease to exist in a generation or two.

ood isnt it?

They certainly have done no favors

and apparently after all these years

have not celebrated nor encouraged

ordinary families and stability

thereof.

Now they want to seat loonies and

no disrespect toward Canadians.

It says to me the “ church” worldwide

has been infected by liberal theologies

much longer than I thought.

“Listen to the answers.”

You’re right in the answers may be quite different because the current people only know what they are told and in some cases conned into believing. I can only use the definition that was the starting of the understanding of the church by using Apostle Paul who shared the word of Christ in the first century. Horse’s mouth stuff.

Do I expect people to understand what Paul said? Many of them probably don’t even know Paul other than being one of Christ’s posse. We are a victim of our own lack of effort toward understanding anything. Doing the minimum of expected is far more simple. And is accomplished far more often.
