Courts are biased when it comes to placing children with women so child support is de facto alimony 2. Most men would take 50/50 custody with 0 child support but women and family courts wouldn’t take money from the man if they did this.
This is one area where many european countries far excel the usa, divorce laws. Their system is not set up to be adversarial and seriously biased towards women. The american system mpis adversarial on purpose and makes over 60 billion dollars off divorce every year.
That’s not an accurate description of what’s happening in family courts, at least not in my state. The court awards primary custody to the parent (mother or father) who stays in the family home with the children, unless that parent wants to give up primary physical custody to the other parent. That’s how it works.
