I’ve read an essay presenting that view. Made a lot of sense. God is so deep that He often packs multiple meanings into His messages.

I've heard that and believe that. But God can also use to mean these attitudes are present in all churches in all ages. And of course, that means they were also present in the first-century Church in Asia Minor.
The key phrase for this view is "he that has an ear, let him hear." This is repeated seven times, to every church. Therefore, every message is for every church.
