Well, since he is fully corrupted spiritually, I’d say he is hoping there is no hell because he is headed there. He and the wrong beliefs of the RCC are leading millions/billions down that long road to hell. Sorry, but there is no purgatory. Mary cannot save you (it is not in the Bible), you cannot buy your lost family members into heaven no matter how much money you give the church to buy their way in. It is CLEAR in the Bible that WE must make the decision to believe or not and do it while we are alive. After death, IT IS TOO LATE. Sorry if that offends some here, however, there is no place in scripture that says pray to Mary, that she can save you, that you can buy someone’s way into heaven and there is no purgatory where you can go to make yourself clean to enter heaven. It is not in the Bible. Scripture is clear. Faith is what gets you saved. Read 1st Corinthians 15: 1-4 and Ephesians 2: 8-9. Those are the most simple and clear verses that tells you what you have to do. Nothing else can do it. Sorry if that offends, but it is truth!!

“Written in ink, in German, in a small, hopelessly sincere handwriting, were the words "Dear God, life is hell." Nothing led up to or away from it. Alone on the page, and in the sickly stillness of the room, the words appeared to have the stature of an uncontestable, even classic indictment. X stared at the page for several minutes, trying, against heavy odds, not to be taken in. Then, with far more zeal than he had done anything in weeks, he picked up a pencil stub and wrote down under the inscription, in English, "Fathers and teachers, I ponder, 'What is Hell?' I maintain that it is the suffering of being unable to love.”
― J.D. Salinger, Nine Stories

Jerry was a Hindu or something, but he does give us something to ponder (as does Dostoevsky, who the embedded quote is from).

If Hell is not a physical location in the material universe, is it still a “place”? I don’t know if that’s what the Pope meant. He might be going a lot further than that, but places not found on any map may be hard for us to see clearly and describe accurately.

A dear friend, who is a staunch Catholic, refuses to attend church as long as this guy is Pope.
