The Church of England is considering referring to God in “non-gendered” terms during services, the Telegraph reported.
Breaking with centuries of tradition, bishops have announced they are launching a major “project on gendered language” this spring.
It may suggest that priests stop using the male pronouns “He” and “Him” when referring to God in some prayers, or even that they can drop the famous phrase “Our Father” from the start of the Lord’s Prayer.
The Reverend Joanna Stobart, a vicar in the diocese of Guildford, Surrey, said that some clergy want to refer to God without saying He or Him, particularly in prayers of forgiveness for sins, according to the report. […]
However, some traditionalists say this goes too far and will fear that the proposed introduction of gender-neutral language is another example of the church attempting to boost dwindling congregations as young people increasingly stay away. …

Who do they expect to attend their services after they have driven out all the Christians?

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?
Numbers 23:19
Insanity knows now bounds. Kinda sad when a major church wants to start preaching blasphemy. Western culture is indeed on the road to Hell.
Good question.
Slightly under 2% of Anglicans in the U.K. show up on any given Sunday.
The Hebrew word “ish”, translated “man” in the first part of that verse, refers to a male human, but the matter is the nature of mortal humankind (women lie also). The second instance, it’s translated from Hebrew “adam”.
In 2 Samuel 7:14, “I will be his father, and he shall be my son”, the Hebrew word “ab” definitely and unambiguously means “father”.
I still have to question what the definition of “Western culture” is. What is “west” as opposed to “east”?
“However, some traditionalists say this goes too far...”
This implies that there are “some traditionalists” who say otherwise. Ugh.

Similar to the Roman god Janus?
In any case, God is not a human. We were created in his image, but this applies metaphorically in terms of our capability to reason. At least that is how I interpret it. In Old English, “man” means “person” or “human”, not necessarily a male one. “Woman” comes from the Old English term “wife person”.
