THE 5,000 |
A beautiful lesson of the Providence of God through Christ.
A nice and endearing #1 by the Christian artist Pascal.
Copping, #2; Tissot, #28; Hole, #40 and Johnson, #51, artists who never disappoint.
#12 by the Flemish artist de Clerck - his style similar to that of another Flemish painter, Marten de Vos.
#14 Valckenborch; #17 and #18 by the two Francken.
So many others to appreciate but I’ll stop with the magnificent stained glass windows.
Well said, Alba!
But tilapia DO live in that area - and like the warm weather/water.
In fact, if memory serves, they will only breed if the water temp
is 100-something degrees plus.
.
113 degrees fahrenheit for Blue Tilapia - the most cold tolerant variety.
(I just looked it up out of curiosity...)
Hadn’t heard of the tilapia speculation. Of course, the salient point for the story is not the species but the number of the fish.
.
Tilapia are a rapidly reproducing species.
I guess the Lord didn't want to work too hard, ya know? (LOL)
Of course this tilapia 'myth' could have been started and spread by an
outfit called: 'St. John's Fish Farm' several decades ago to boost sales.
Who knows?
They wouldn’t be the first company trying to cash in on the Gospel, nor the last. (You’re not one of their reps?)
Good Morning Dan; Thank You for ‘The Best Gathering / Encouraging Place on Free Republic’
And good morning to all, as we ponder 2023 with optimism. How should we serve the Lord this year? New pathways not yet taken, of which the Holy Spirit keeps bringing to our attention...
My first pastor was fond of saying, "To discover the Holy Spirit's will, go back and actually do the last thing He told you to do."
Good Morning, Dan :-)
Hello again, Mary-Lou! It’s well that you’re not superstitious, or this inauspicious beginning to the year could be troubling.
Not Superstition. Super Stupid Cable Company.
Very nice collection!
Interestingly, only a couple (including no. 17 and Tissot’s 24) distinctly show the separation of the crowd, which was an essential element to Jesus’ miracle, revelation, and instructions to the Apostles.
Anyway, any thoughts on why many Medieval/Renaissance paintings depict the Apostles as old/older men?
"Dia shábháil ar fad anseo!" | "God save all here!" |
Beyond artists presenting the truism that generally it takes years to acquire the authority they attained, no.
Always happy to oblige, Tom.
.
LOL!
Over thirty years ago I had never heard of tilapia fish.
One Friday I was on the phone with a lady friend, making plans
for a barbeque dinner that evening.
She wanted me to stop at the grocery store and pick up some
things on my way home from work. One of those things for
me to get was fish for us to grill.
The small IGA grocery grocery store had a small display on
the fish counter from that Saint John's fish farm.
I read it - and said: 'What the heck!' - and I bought some.
Red Tilapia was the variety - the variety in post #5 above.
What I have since learned -
You need to marinate the fillets (both sides, flip them over once)
briefly in a mixture of melted butter, a little lemon juice
and fresh crushed garlic.
Put them on a hot charcoal grill, sprinkle with paprika,
and cook for only a few minutes, then flip (only once)
and cook for a few minutes more.
The paprika can be swapped out for Paul Prudhomme's Blackened Redfish Magic
seasoning if you have it (it's good stuff and I recommend it).
Serve with a green salad, corn of the cob and baked macaroni & cheese
outdoors on the picnic table under the big oak tree on a warm June evening.
It's all yummy!
(You can thank me later.)
:-)
And NO, I'm not a rep for Chef Paul Prudhomme either.
He passed away at age 75 on October 8, 2015 in New Orleans, LA.
RIP Chef Paul!
Guessing that grills and condiments were in short supply that day.
