Supposedly the species of fish used by Jesus was tilapia.
(But this tilapia idea could just be an apocryphal legend / myth.)

But tilapia DO live in that area - and like the warm weather/water.
In fact, if memory serves, they will only breed if the water temp
is 100-something degrees plus.

Hadn’t heard of the tilapia speculation. Of course, the salient point for the story is not the species but the number of the fish.
