Nearly a quarter of countries around the world used physical force to stop religious gatherings in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a new study.

The study published Tuesday by the Pew Research Center also found religious groups in more than a third of those countries defied the lockdowns.

Authorities used physical means, including arrests and prison sentences, to enforce COVID-related mitigation measures in 23% of 198 countries and territories in a study.

In the U.S., police in New Jersey arrested 15 people at a rabbi’s funeral that violated the state’s ban on public gatherings, according to the report. The arrests were made after some mourners reportedly became unruly and argumentative when police tried to disperse the crowd.

Religious groups in 37% of the surveyed countries faced various outside attempts to deter them from meeting during the COVID outbreak in 2020, the study also found.

(Nearly a Quarter of Countries Forcefully Stopped Religious Gatherings During COVID, Report)

COVID-19(84) is NOT the Mark of the Beast, BUT it does an excellent impersonation.

The is a clear foreshadowing of Revelation chapter 13.

Lead by the USA. Utterly shameful. We have quite literally changed place with the USSR.

Lead by the USA.

I'm not sure, but I think Australia, New Zealand, and Canada were even more zealous than the U.S. in their Covid restrictions.

Wow, over 3/4 of countries did not ban church services.

I assume many of those countries were Muslim or African. The "advanced" nation (Western Europe, North America, Australia/New Zealand, Israel, East Asia) were far more restrictive than the "backward" nations.

The church first took root almost in secret.

Because of persecution, believers met in homes to pray, worship, and encourage one another.

Some (myself included) believe the church age may very well close out in the same way.

NH passed a law that churches be deemed essential services and therefore exempt from lockdown in the event of another pandemic.

Thank God for a bit of sanity in this insane world.

"Some (myself included) believe the church age may very well close out in the same way."

Which is why it's good practice to host a small group in your home, like the 1st century church did.

This will take the place of the outlawed public church gathering, so the sooner we get used to it the safer the transition will be.

God may be saying,, home churches are the answer to the shut down. Perhaps more stringent shut downs coming considering the collapse of free speech and fraud in the election system.

Matthew 18:20
King James Version

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

Looks like that’s where it’s headed

Yeah good reference
