FIRST TO HEAR OF THE SAVIOR |
Good Morning, Dan.
:-)
Hiya, Mary-Lou. Have a blessed Lord’s Day!
Well done! Favorite #5 by Bastien-Lepage; #8 and #20. Now going to be in awe viewing the stained glass windows.
Sorry for the huge picture.
Happy Sunday Dan, and hello to all.
Great paintings with a good mix of styles. Liked the three by Douglas Ramsey. (including terrified sheep =:^)
Dan, this is such a great place to ‘gather’ thank you. We look at the culture at large (and even here on Free Republic) It’s painful to see our republic in its death throes of hatred and wickedness. Thus, may our King help us to shine His light.
Freely you have received; freely give. Matthew 10:8
It’s juuuuuuust right.
a great place to ‘gather’
Gives the Holy Spirit another venue to which He can direct those under His ministry.
Excellent, excellent, excellent.
Thank you for your time and work creating these.
So glad the Holy Spirit is using this to bless you. Part 2 is tomorrow....
The First Noel [נואל] within a word of the Bible appears at the first light following the birth of Israel, the place of a sudden letter/spelling/name swap:
End of Genesis 32
27 And he said unto him, What is thy name? And he said, Jacob.
28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
29 And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.
30 And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel [פניאל]: for I have seen God face to face, and my life [nefesh] is preserved.
31 And as he passed over Penuel [פנואל] the sun rose upon him, and he halted upon his thigh.
32 Therefore the children of Israel eat not of the sinew which shrank, which is upon the hollow of the thigh, unto this day: because he touched the hollow of Jacob's thigh in the sinew that shrank.
"Noel" also appears in the name "Immanuel" [עמנואל].
In the Greek (Matthew 1:23), Immanuel is spelled Ἐμμανουήλ.
The "Noel" part is νουήλ, which = 558.
Back over in Hebrew, 558 = Jacob [יעקב, 182] + Esau [עשו, 376].
The tradition is that Jacob was wrestling with the sar (prince) of Esau.
Everyone will learn how to get along finally, ♫ Down on the Corner of Love [פינת האהבה, 558].
Forget what you knew
We'll start life anew,
Down on the corner of love.
Genesis 37
10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
12 And his brethren went to feed their father's flock in Shechem.
13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
The First Noel the angels did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay
In fields where they lay keeping their sheep
On a cold winter's night that was so deep
Noel Noel Noel Noel
Born is the King of Israel!
I always keep this stuff on hand just in case there's a need. For emergencies.
Cheers! [L'Chaim! !לחיים] "Where everybody knows your name"..
And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray thee, thy name. And he said, Wherefore is it that thou dost ask after my name? And he blessed him there.Beth L'Chaim. Great name for a pub. Kind of like the saying that your name is your blessing.
How many languages is that? English, French, Hebrew, Greek, and Punish.
Never equalled, always entertaining. And I’m happy to provide a forum (Latin) where you can get it off your chest. At least it wasn’t Pungent....
Meanwhile, Jacob and Esau buried the patriarch and the hatchet (Sioux? Apache? Iroquois?), though wisely they remained distant. And thus, so personally, began the tension between Jews and Gentiles.
So, they left and went to Bethlehem, while somebody stole their sheep.............🤷♀️
Gabriel detailed a squad of angels as sheep-guards. Don’t be so cynical..........................
It’s a tough job, but somebody’s gotta do it!.................😜
It's those Native Americans I tell ya... they really put the corn in "amazing."
That's not off-topic at all. The birth stories, origins are all finely (finally) coordinated, which motivates me to post the oddest stuff.
It's a long, long journey, so stay by my side (this is where people drop out, I just know it!):
To continue, from my previous post,
The birthplace of the Revolution is the house of L'Chaim, even at the neck of Shawmut, the all-American checkmate pun (amazing):
though wisely they remained distant
Speaking of hatchet jobs,
There's a strange midrash about Esau's head being buried in (rolling into) the Cave of Machpelah at the time of Jacob's funeral, which naturally suggests that both Jacob and Esau died at age 147. What's The Point?
Well, directly across from The Point at 147 Union Street, same zip code (2108),
what happened was that the Boston Stone (actually two stones in one) was rejoined as its natural pair, and then set as the head of the corner (April 13, 1836, when America was in her 60th year. It was 26 Nisan, the Traditional yahrzeit of Joshua son of Nun.). The twins were born in 2108 when Isaac was 60.
America's first known paint grinding mill: the round muller had been long lost in the basement, whereas the base stone had been used to keep carts from hitting the old building.
The muller (missing head) was found in the process of tearing down and constructing the new and still present building (1835-1836). When foundation work had been completed sometime between 1965 and 1975 (dated photos show the appearance changes), the muller had been reinstalled backwards, with the peg hole facing out.

Mr. Sun:
Cheers! is set in Boston [בוסטון], aka "The Hub" [of the solar system]. Even has its own eponymous stone. The Pilgrims saw a vision of "New Jerusalem", which was named Jebus-town at first, so to speak. They might not have known they were making a pun.
Yeah, well whoever wrote the wiki page about the Jerusalem artichoke made sure to inform that it's not an artichoke and not related to Jerusalem, but hey that Italian word girasole ("sunflower") means to turn to (face) the sun, so pffft.
There's even a big sign hanging on the wall in Rachel Revere Square (across from Paul Revere's house) that says: Welcome to the North End, where Italians trace their roots.
There's also an ebus [אבוס], a manger. And manger-town is Beth Lechem, the house of bread. Famous! It's not authentic if it's not baked in a... Can!
Can Do...
And thus, so personally, began the tension between Jews and Gentiles.
Genesis 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
(The verb for "can". Esau was the "Do-er" of the family, the meaning of his name.)
Something to chew on is that
People are their own worst enemies!
It'll all sort out.. the Y'S *are* the writing on the wall, with the disembodied hand pointing down to the street and the stone, in the direction of The Point (Y: Pintele Yid, essential Jewishness, but who ever questions "why" anymore?).
Never equalled, always entertaining.
I've been infuriating since birth. Glad I could... be myself!
Anyway,
How is "Cheers!" (i.e. the place where everybody knows your name, the place of the blessing, L'Chaim) the center of all the action? Besides the simple meaning of the concept,
"Cheer" is written as צ'יר because the letter tzaddi is used for the English ch-sound. Thus it is the same spelling as tzir, which is an axis, and more.
We can all thank the Frenchman René Descartes for his Cartesian... coordinate system, the place of the three Cheers [pl. tzirim צירים*] -- which is to say, the hub, the origin point, where x, y, and z meet up.
Wikipedia even has the diagram in Hebrew:
L'Chaim, L'Chaim. L'Chaim... three cheers! Hip Hip, Hooray!
It's all a living parable, a mashal. Back at the place of the first Noel:
AbstractThis study describes in modern medical terms a traumatic hip injury suffered by the Biblical patriarch Jacob approximately 3,500 years ago. The case history is based on the original Hebrew text found in the Bible book of Genesis (Chapter 32:25-33) as interpreted by traditional Jewish commentaries on the Bible.
Jacob sustained a hip injury in hand-to-hand combat with an adversary or through an intense physiological reaction to a prophetic vision of such a battle. He appears to have sustained neurological injury to his sciatic nerve as well as musculoskeletal damage to his hip. These injuries caused a temporary limping gait.
There's even a peculiar tradition that the name of the Messiah was "engraved on a precious stone on the altar of the heavenly Temple, as it is said, His name existed before the sun (Ps. 72:17)." (Tree of Souls, pg. 74).
On a personal note, what does this all tell me? It tells me the God of Abraham has a twinkle in His eye and a spring in His step, and that there's absolutely no competition. He always gets there first to plaster His signature sticky prints all over everything, even right on the face of the Sun (everyone knows not to stare).
I find this "obscure" information merely by wandering off the beaten path, and then looking up at the ghost sign.
EZ, but instead of a fantastic adventure (who's got the time), many prefer to buy the "cliff" notes.

It all adds up in the weirdest ways. How about Rachel, eh? The "Mother of all Israel", who who was buried in Bethlehem in an isolated grave, along the way.
Sorry for any typos. They can be sneaky.
Ezekiel, I stuck with it and read every word (though, to be candid—and I owe you candor, after all your efforts—not with quite the reverence I attend Scripture). I trust that now I am fully informed, though I doubt I could emulate you convincingly when I attempt to pass it all on.
