If he wasn’t there is no point to Christianity.

Jesus was sinless.
IF He wasn’t , then He was not God.
Therefore, the sacrifice He made on the cross is to no avail.

When they were not taught that Jesus is ‘God With Us’ and have no clue regarding Jesus’s message to the disciples in John 14, then they do not believe Jesus is God so they cannot fathom His Righteousness AS GOD WITH US.

A lot of them think that The Da Vinci Code isn’t a fiction, and the church invented the entire “mythology” of Jesus. The movie concludes that Jesus was just some ordinary guy and there’s nothing special about him. It’s nothing less than blasphemy but it’s become ever more popular the more we’re exposed to it. I don’t think too much of Tom Hanks anymore.
It seems to me that the bigger question is about the 60+% who believe that Jesus was sinless. Why aren't these people serious Christians? Nominal Christianity is not consistent with a true belief in Jesus' sinlessness.
30% of Americans report they have no religion, with the younger cohorts the highest number of “nones.” so it is not a surprise they wouldn’t think Jesus was divine. Add in believers, but nonChristian, and the 40% mark is easily within reach.
No surprise here.
Our Christian faith teaches that Jesus the man led a sinless life. I accept this on faith. But every second of every day in the life of Jesus and every thought He ever had while on Earth was not recorded and written down.
Do they believe he rose from the dead? If they won’t believe that there is no way they will accept a sinless Jesus.
Virtue is POWER. Jesus was virtuous (sinless), therefore he had POWER to overcome death for us. We could not and cannot overcome death by our own power (good people do have power, but not POWER like Jesus has).
I also think it was necessary for Jesus to be perfect and subject to earthly injustice to be able to usher in ultimate justice and mercy for us. If I want to see imperfection I only have to look in the mirror.

I don’t think their HELLO, KITTY! IT’S JESUS CALLING! study Bibles teach much sound doctrine (on sin or anything else).
