Cain married one of his sisters, or maybe even a niece. I don’t think there were the same genetic problems then, that there are now. Are we even sure Cain and Abel were the first two born. They may very well have been exactly that, but I think Eve was having babies regularly, for maybe 500 years, or more. By the time Cain killed Abel, hundreds of years May have passed, with maybe thousands of people on the earth, as Eve’s daughters were having babies too, not just Eve.
As far as the gap theory goes, who knows for sure? Donald Grey Barnhouse wrote about it in the Invisible War. If there was a gap, caused by Satan’s rebellion and fall, it might have lasted billions of years, before God fixed it. I keep an open mind about it, but since it’s not a salvation issue, I think it’s not that important. What I will say, however, is that it seems out of God’s character, to create anything that is void and without form. Everything that God creates, is good and perfect and beautiful. Hope that helps. 😊😀
Good post, Mark!
We have record of three sons born to Adam: Cain, Abel, and Seth, then more sons and daughters.
AHhhh...
If we FReepers could only do this about SO many subjects we interpret differently.
