Pffhahah, no, you can’t credit Roman Catholicism for anything. As has been attested upthread Catholicism didn’t even settle its canon until Trent.
Credit Brother Luther for the Bible; he did more for the canon of Scripture than Rome ever did.
But in reality, the fact that you’re trying to credit Roman Catholicism instead of the Holy Spirit brings to mind doubts about what the true object of worship REALLY is.
Pfafhah, the Catholic church is the one who collected the collection of 73 books th6is the Bible.
You keep that collection because of the church.
Luther took the Christian buble and cut out books that disagreed with his theology which is why he wanted yo axe both the book of Revelation and the epistle of James.
The Holy spirit works through the church, which is why Jesus left a church, not a book.
It was Catholic bishops, successors to the Apostles, who approved the various Gospels and Epistles for reading during the Eucharist. And it was the same bishops who in synod drew up the canon, the list of contents of Scripture.
So to accept the Scriptures as the Word of God is in fact accepting the word of the Catholic Church
The Bible is THE Catholic Book par excellence, the Church’s great treasure, handed down, proclaimed, taught and expounded for more than sixty generations.
1 Tim 3:15 God’s household, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of the truth.
