CHAPTER 27

Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain and see the land I have given the Israelites. After you have seen it, you will be gathered to your people.”

Moses said to the LORD, “May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all mankind, appoint a man over this community to go out and come in before them, one who will lead them out and bring them in, so the LORD’s people will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”

So the LORD said to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man in whom is the spirit, and lay your hand on him. Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the entire assembly and commission him in their presence. Give him some of your authority so the whole Israelite community will obey him.”

Moses did as the LORD commanded him. He took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole assembly. Then he laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the LORD instructed through Moses.

Moses climbed Mount Nebo, across from Jericho. There the LORD showed him the whole land. And Moses the servant of the LORD died there in Moab, as the LORD had said.

Since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the LORD sent him to do in Egypt—to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

That's not why. "Schnorr" reminds me of schnozz, which makes me chuckle.

Wonderful selections..
Moses’ staff is depicted with him on the mount.
Never thought about till seeing it here.

Joshua wasn’t carrying that staff.
He was carrying what versions say is a spear or javelin.
A tool for war, not shepherding..

It is all for His purposes, but if unbelieving Israel knew that Joshua is Jesus’ english name, maybe more would recognize the seamless garment from the Old to the New Testament, and the return of the Messiah.
