The Diocese of Phoenix said 'all of the baptisms he has performed until June 17, 2021, are presumed invalid'
"The issue with using ‘We’ is that it is not the community that baptizes a person, rather, it is Christ, and Him alone, who presides at all of the sacraments, and so it is Christ Jesus who baptizes," Olmsted said.

You are all over the map.
We are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. Irreverence is a dealbreaker.
Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
I think you will find that the word “name” doesn’t mean appellation, rather “authority”. To say that the word “Jesus” has some power in itself is superstition or magic. It is by Jesus’ authority that we act, not on our own (in our own name).
Hew am I all over the map. My point to near pin point focus is Christ’s death is sufficient unto salvation.
John 10:27. His voice is all we need to hear and the Scriptures are His voice, completely and utterly sufficient.
I do not allow myself to fall into the trap of one scripture being the definitive statement. That is not how our Lord inspired the writing of the Bible.
We are living under the New Covenant. What exactly is the New Covenant?
God tells us twice in the OT and NT, “This is the New Covenant.....................” Actually, only once, the second time is a direct quotation. We should have gotten it the first time. He tells us in some detail what it is. Jesus does build on it.
Do you see a connection between the New Covenant and being born in the Spirit? Do you see why God destroyed the Temple, the priestly system, the sacrificial system and TORE THE CURTAIN?
In the words of former NYC mayor Ed Koch, I can explain it to you, but I can’t comprehend it for you.
you mean the theology that thrust the world into the dark ages by chaining the bibles to the pews of the churches, so that nobody could read the scriptures.“
What are you talking about here? The fall of Rome thrust the world into the dark ages and the Church pulled it out.
Find for me in the bible, one instance where someone was baptized who had not professed belief that Jesus was the Messiah.
Act 19:3 “Then what baptism did you experience?” he asked. And they replied, “The baptism of John.”
Now read it in context with ears to hear.
There are numerous scriptures stating faith in Christ and the resurrection with a repentant spirit is all that is required for his saving grace.
Maybe the better question is do you consider all those verses to be incomplete, and if so, why?
Baptism is best represented as a symbol of ones faith when mentioned biblically and not a required element of salvation. How do you dismiss all the verses that only require faith in Christ then? Why does G-d need a physical act before one can be saved, how is it the death of our Lord requires something more before it is sufficient?
Finally, what is the something more baptism adds that the death of the creator of the universe just could not accomplish?
If Baptism confers grace, it should not be denied to infants.
The issue is that Baptism is important for conversion, See the important story of Acts 10:48 when Peter insisted Cornelius and his entire house be Baptized.
“Come back in to get your recalled baptism. And if you died before 2017…we are awful sorry that you must spend eternity because of our screw up.”
It ridiculousness like this that makes the people running the Catholic Church a laughing stock.
Lets look a little broader shall we?
44 While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter,
47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?
48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.
Note the Holy Spirit descended upon all of them and they demonstrated the gifts of the spirit. They are showing clearly as being saved before being baptized.
Mind you I am not dismissing the importance of baptism, just the position that without baptism there is no salvation.
When a servant or disciple says something on behalf of their master are they doing so in their own authority or on the authority of the master?
If Jesus, who is the master, tells his servants to baptize in his name, he means with his authority. Precisely what is commanded in Matthew 28:19.
Ergo, the words matter because its about who is operating under whose authority and on behalf of whom.
Baptism confers the grace of salvation Jesus commanded to give, which is why Peter insisted the household be baptized.
Why would he command them to be baptize if it did not?
This entire passage is in keeping with dual action of repent and be baptized, seen in Acts 2:37-39, because even the children of the listeners must be do this.
::Baptism won’t save you. ::
Peter says that baptism saves: “1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even *baptism doth also now save us* (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:”
I am going to stick with Peter; I think he knows what he is talking about. Baptism saves.
“Know ye not, that so many of us as were *baptized into Jesus Christ* were baptized into his death?”
Baptism moves us from a state of sinfulness to a state of salvation; all past sins are washed away. We are baptized into Christ, meaning baptized into his church — the congregation of all who are saved. We are not believed into Christ; we are not repented into Christ; we are not confessed into Christ. Only baptism adds us to the congregation of the saved. Logically, baptism saves us.
Acts 22:16 “And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be *baptized, and wash away thy sins*, calling on the name of the Lord.”
This clearly states that baptism washes away our sins which results in our being a saved condition. Baptism saves.
Then we have to confront the question of which form is scriptural:immersion. Plus the question of the scriptural reason: for the remission of sins.
Baptism is a *necessary condition* for one to be saved from one’s past sins. However, it is not a *sufficient condition* since other necessary conditions are found in scripture.
You last post was circular and answered no questions. All you did was re-assert baptism confers grace.
You avoided engaging whole point of why were the believers already receiving the gift of the spirit, something given to believers, by the holy spirit if they were not saved and believer already?
Baptism REMOVES ORIGINAL SIN, so if you Protestants don’t get Baptized until you are much older, then YOU ALL are living with ORIGINAL SIN!!
Please provide scriptural reference for that. Something as important as that surely has our Lord somewhere speaking on that knowledge?
Also then please tell me how the following had their original sin removed:
Noah
Abraham
Joseph
Moses
Daniel
David
Just for starters
::BUT INFANT baptism is not biblical. It is ineffective because the infant has made no choice.::
Exactly:
Verses such as “make your calling and election sure,” “save yourself from this wicked generation,” are commands that a baby in the audience could not fulfill == nor a preteen for the most part.
Romans 9:10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being *not yet born, neither having done any good or evil,* that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
If sin is the transgression of the law, then a child is sinless until he knows right from wrong and can choose.
All infant baptism does is get the child wet.
well Im not a protestant im actually a baptist but the point being, Jesus removes sin, getting baptized biblically by immersion only testafies of that belief!
