The Salvation Army has withdrawn its controversial "Let's Talk About Racism" guide following criticism and donor backlash over the text that asked white supporters of the charity group to deliver "sincere" apologies for their race and the past sins of the Church.
The holidays are a welcome reminder of the things we are grateful for—and for the power of service on behalf of those who are less fortunate. The Salvation Army mission statement clearly outlines the nature of our service: to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in His name without discrimination. The beliefs that motivate our service are based solely on the Bible, and that will never change.
But although we remain committed to serving everyone in need—regardless of their beliefs, backgrounds, or lifestyle—some individuals and groups have recently attempted to mislabel our organization to serve their own agendas. They have claimed that we believe our donors should apologize for their skin color, that The Salvation Army believes America is an inherently racist society, and that we have abandoned our Christian faith for one ideology or another.
Those claims are simply false, and they distort the very goal of our work.
The truth is that The Salvation Army believes that racism is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity, and that we are called by God to work toward a world where all people are loved, accepted, and valued. Our positional statement on racism makes this clear. These beliefs and goals are critically important because we know that racism exists, and we are determined to do everything the Bible asks of us to overcome it.
The Salvation Army occasionally publishes internal study guides on various complex topics to help foster positive conversations and grace-filled reflection among Salvationists. By openly discussing these issues, we always hope to encourage the.......

“The guide was put together by a couple of whack jobs in a little known office of wokeism. They clearly overstepped their bounds”
According to their fake retraction...
““Consequently, for both reasons, the International Social Justice Commission has now withdrawn the guide for appropriate review.””
In other words, they’re going to put lipstick on this pig and then trot it out again and see if this time they can bamboozle the public.
And notice, the “couple of whack jobs” is an entire internal commission with the impressive title of “International Social Justice Commission”. In other words - it’s been institutionalized and most likely staffed with “untouchables”, so good luck getting rid of that.
I have no connection to them. Perhaps a rogue employee did something dumb. Given all they (the organization) have done over the years I’m willing to give them some grace.
They, and so many other “Christians”, need to be reminded of the actual history of the faith. Slavery was abolished in most of the world (Islamic countries and much of black Africa being the main exceptions) by European (dare I say “White”?) Christians. The abolitionist movement in this country, and the Civil Rights Movement of the late 20th century, were overtly and vocally Christian enterprises. I will walk out on any church that espouses racism. Fortunately, except for the one in Missouri run by Al Gore’s buddy, such churches exist only in the fevered imaginations of atheists and Liberal apostates.

Like many of our institutions, the Salvatin Army has been infiltrated by Alinsky designing Commies who want to destroy the patriot culture of America.
Best to get rid of them all while you still can.
Let us see how this works out. As GWB once said: “fool me once shame on you, full me twice means you can’t get fooled again.”
....."The Salvation Army believes that racism is fundamentally incompatible with Christianity"
This must mean that the Salvation Army is "fundamentally incompatible with Christianity."
I don’t feel empathy for those who published that guide, because they probably see all the angry donor blowback and say; “See what I mean? I told you to expect this. All this anger just proves I struck a nerve! I say we walk back the walk-back, then DOUBLE DOWN on the CRT message!!”
There are other charities just as efficient and Bible-based.
Salvation Army deserves to take it in the shorts for this.
“meet human needs in His name without discrimination.”
I can’t imagine anyone who ever gave to the Salvation Army thinking “I sure hope only white people get this money”.
Don’t be a sucker - they said in their statement that they have an international social justice department. Maybe if they say they’ve eliminated that department and admit they were wrong and promise not allow this hate of white people to take place in their organization, maybe then you can give them another chance
Withdrawing the egregious error does not change things. They have showed their hand and their heart. I want nothing to do with them.
Not “withdrawn”.
They’ve just decided to pull it for further review.
Well, let’s just say I’m going to hold off tithing to them for a while until this whole thing shakes out.
> They are completely off my giving menu....
Me too for this year. Maybe they might atone properly by next year.
“Best to get rid of them all while you still can.”
They’re going to have a hard time doing that. I’m sure they are rabid leftist activists and they will make sure the powers that be within SA will suffer the pain of hell if they dare touch them.
No more donations from me..............SA shows true colors.
Exactly. Always been a supporter. I know when I am not welcome or appreciated.
Although not affiliated with religion, the Institute for Justice in Virginia is doing the Lord’s work helping the little guys fight off heavy-handed government. They are also fighting for school choice, and they have a solid rating from the organizations that rate charities. They are pro-freedom.
They MIGHT get more money from me, but ONLY if they fully identify the person or persons who were responsible and of course fire them.
When a company pulls back something stupid that it publicly pushed, it is up to them to come clean, and that means disclosing EVERYTHING. Otherwise, it’s the “I’m sorry if anyone felt offended by what I said” type of excuse.
