Does the Eastern Orthodox Church believe in the Rapture?
Eastern Orthodox Christians, Roman Catholics and some mainline Protestants view the Rapture as heretical teaching of the Christian faith. It was not preached or believed prior to 1830 A.D. when John Nelson Darby individually proclaimed that his teaching is what the Bible says Christ will do when he comes again. Jesus, Paul, Peter, John or any of the writers of the Bible or Christian church fathers did not preach about the Rapture.
The Rapture teaches the four comings of Jesus — first, his birth in Bethlehem; second, his secret coming to snatch away (Rapture) the select few; third, his thousand-year reign; and fourth, the final judgment at the end of time. In the Bible, there are only two, not four, comings of Christ.
Passages of Scripture that allude to the event of the Rapture are in actuality referring to the second coming or final judgment of Christ. He will return a second time to judge the living and the dead, whose kingdom will have no end.
The Rapture teaches that select born-again Christians will float into the clouds — no matter where they are or what they are doing — to meet the Lord in the clouds.
If they are driving, their passengers may die. If they are a pilot flying a plane, their passengers may most likely die in a plane crash. If they are a surgeon in the middle of surgery, the patient probably might die. If they are parents with young children and babies, who will take care of the abandoned children?
A better explanation of this heretical teaching can be viewed below
“ I am fairly certain those larger Church bodies start with the Sacred Scriptures and from those derive certain formulaic statements.
It is both that which was added to Scripture as dogma and that which was lost as dogma replaced it that is the problem.
“ Teachings concerning “The Rapture” are relatively new, given the history of the Church. ”
No so.

“ You will not find references to it in Sacred Sripture without force-fitting it into a few passages.
Totally disagree.
“ The return of Christ in glory and the final judgment will follow His ascension.
Agree 100%.
In the snatching, Christ does not return to earth. True believers are seized from earth and translated to meet Him in the clouds.
They will return with Him at His Second Coming
I agree that an illiterate person can still be biblically literate but such person is dependent upon others... AKA clergy but clergy have a checkered reputation
Giants of biblical scholarship like Jerome, Augustine, and Aquinas (to name just a few) dispel the notion that there was never any serious biblical interpretation and development of understanding until widespread literacy.
Whose teaching did those you cite rely on the most, Peter's or Paul's?
And that is what i have been taught as well.
Do a google search for Holly Deyo’s essay on the Rapture. Ill go look for it for you. It silences -for any rational mind- the deceit that the Rapture and specifically the pre trib Rapture was an invention of John Darby. There is even a reference to it in the Dead Sea Scrolls, which predate the birth of Jesus! BRB

Clearly, the everlasting gospel in Rev 14:6-7 is different from Paul’s gospel yet Paul placed a curse on any man, or angel from heaven that preaches a different gospel.
fso301,
Pauls first/chief importance of the gospel is Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits,in accordance with the scriptures.
Today’s church first/chief importance of the gospel is good friday, holy saturn day, sun day, in accordance with Daniel’s 4th Beast and Antichrist Pope Gregory calendar.
Today’s church preaches another gospel than Paul. The very first/chief importance is different. Maybe that leads to the church even having another Jesus than Paul. A premise the church wouldn’t accept, but they dont accept Paul’s first/chief importance either.
Given the premise that you gave , maybe todays church is cursed.
Maybe today’s church is the woman riding the Beast.
Today is false God Odin/Woden’s day.
False God added for emphasis as it’s not declared that. But at its core, a day that Daniels 4th Beast names in honor of a false God.
That’s not worshipping Him who made Heaven, earth and the sea and fountains of water.
That looks and feels more like wandering after the Beast.
Maybe the church should focus on trying to overcome the lies from the Beast and Antichrist that’s already on the scene.
Because that work goes on daily.
Tomorrow,Thor’s day, is another challenge the Beast offers up to the church.
Will the church buy and sell what the Beast and Antichrist peddles?
Yup.
They don’t know any different.
Cursed, as Paul would state it.
The Kingdom to come has no false God odin’s.
Today isn’t even the Father’s 4th work day in the Kingdom.
It’s His 3rd. In the Kingdom to come.
The Beast kingdom will fall.
The everlasting gospel in Revelation can be heard today.
It’s just a little hard to hear over the Beast and Antichrist lies that the world buys and sells.

Thanks my bro!
Did Paul keep the law for salvation?
1 Co 9:20 "To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law."Paul's gospel 1 Co 15:1-4
1 Co 15:1 "Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand".1 Co 15:2 "By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain."
1 Co 15:3 "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance[fn]: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,"
1 Co 15:4 " that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,"
Both Isaiah and Ezekiel describe the roles that old rebel the dragon has been and will be allowed…
Paul penned those things were written as ensample for our admonition as to what would be again .. sadly too few for whatever cause are under that ‘spirit’ of slumber.
Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21, alll clearly lay out what needs be before Christ returns to reap a harvest with that double edged sword.. why Modern Christianity has become Mars Hill..
It is absolutely mind boggling how so many Christians totally ignore the Words of Christ..
Paul taught to keep the Feast.
Not for salvation.
Believing in inherited lies won’t lead to Truth.
The Truth is what sets one free.
The Beasts false goddess frigg day isn’t in accordance with the scriptures.
It is however,in accordance with the Beast and Antichrist.
Which is why I said that today’s church doesn’t have the same gospel as Paul.
Christ, the Passover Lamb.
In the Kingdom to come,Passover is the Father’s 6th work day.
That’s something the Beast doesn’t sell.
It can’t.
Because the walls start to fall all around Babylon when it gets revealed.
Passover, Unleavened Bread and First Fruits are the Father’s 14,15,16 days in His calendar and the Father’s Friday, saturn day, sun day.
You know who can’t buy or sell that?
Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
That’s not Paul’s problem. Nor the scriptures problem.
That’s Islam, Judaism and Christianity’s problem.
But,they don’t see the problem.
That’s why it says that Satan deceives the whole world.
Does the church today know all the inherited lies it believes?
Not for lack of faith.
But for lack of testing and proving all things.
“I believe every word of scripture, please tell me where in scripture the word “rapture” appears.”
I can’t believe anyone would actually post that here.
How old are you twelve? What’s your IQ, 12?
What a lame, infantile statement that proves NOTHING!
Go back and read your bible. Forget the “word search” and look for TRUTH.
Rapture is just a word someone made up to convey circumstances clearly depicted in the bible.
You don’t believe in heaven? If you do, how are you going to get there? Uber? Rocket? Magic underpants? How about “rapture”?
Agreed.
AKA clergy but clergy have a checkered reputationP> Lay scholars (both Catholic and Protestant) can also be sketchy. There are, however, today a number of fantastic Catholic lay scholars and Bible teachers. It is a shame they are not better known, including by your average Catholic. I and other Catholics are working to change that.
Whose teaching did those you cite rely on the most, Peter's or Paul's?
Thomas Aquinas, especially, was enamored of St Paul, who he calls “the Apostle.” If you haven’t yet, I recommend checking out some of his biblical commentaries, like on Ephesians.
Where?
How do you reconcile such belief with Col 2:16-17?
v16 "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day."
v17 "These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ"
Welllll.... Aren’t you the mature one.....
If you will stury the scene in chapters four and five of The Revelation you will find 'the redeemed by the blood of Lamb out of every natiuon, tribe, kindred, and tongue in Heaven, witnessing as the Lamb begins opening the seven sealed scroll. The born agains ARE The redeemed.
See you in the clouds, Bro! see you in the clouds ... Maranatha, even so come quickly Lord Jesus
I think that chapters 12-14 come before chapter 4.
I wont even ask how you make that twist. The order for the Revelation is laid out in the first chapter, things which you have seen, things that are, and things that are to come. The sections you refer to may be a different perspective of events but they are not before chapter four.
Yes but if we assume a linear progression, Rev 14:14 comes after a new gospel has been preached and the 144,000 have been martyred and the Two Witnesses have been martyred.
