I know I speak for many a believer who feels a burden for a loved one, neighbor/colleague/friend to come to the fullness of faith in Christ.
The dynamics at work in the spiritual lives of children and adults are different for obvious reasons...Simply by virtue of adults having had more life experience, more ideas to consider, etc...
So for those of you who are willing, can you summarize what made you ultimately decide to be a Christian? And if there were any individuals who played a role, how so? And vice versa: what or who may have contributed to your initial hesitancy, if any.
This is an ecumenical thread so Catholic, Orthodox Protestant/Evangelical all apply.
[33] And he, taking them the same hour of the night, washed their stripes, and himself was baptized, and all his house immediately. Acts 16.
heard it all, was taught much of God, Jesus, Bible as child but never clued in and lived lost til I hit 40 years old and grabbed onto Jesus when I heard the message then. Freed of life long fear of many kinds and self hate at 45 (Thank you Jesus!) and trying to finish life better than the first 40 years :)
When will you come back and visit us again, like you did before? 👍😀👊 See you at the rapture bro. 👍
Revelation 21:22-27
22 I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23 The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. 26 The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. 27 Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Like the Twilight Zone?
I’ve heard of shotgun weddings but not of “forcible divorces”.
If you feel you were wronged, why do you accept the ruling and speak of an “ex-wife” rather than your wife?
Please don’t ask questions before you tell your conversion story.
Summary: The acknowledgment of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior followed by the reception of the Holy Spirit comes first. Clearly, newborn children are unable to acknowledge Christ and receive the Holy Spirit.
Conclusion: Baptism of infant children does not save them. The Lord's wisdom and grace does, for he knows they are unable to. Unborn children receive the same benefit of The Lord's wisdom and grace as newborn infants.
Therefore, why baptize a newborn child? It may make the parents feel better for having followed a religious tradition but it does nothing for the child's soul/salvation. There is no scriptural reference that can be provided to indicate otherwise.
Commonly referred to as "No Fault" divorces where one spouse files for divorce citing "unreconcilable differences" and the court grants the divorce. No amount of arguing, evidence of cheating, mental illness or otherwise being incapacitated to make a sound judgement will stop a judge from granting a divorce in a no-fault divorce state, such as the one I live in. Period.

Because legally that's what she is.
The rest I leave up to God. I trust His judgement. He knows what happened (you do not) and he knows what she did.
and all his house immediately.
Clara sees the Scripture but...
My conversion story, means I do not fear Hell anymore. I surely did, when I belonged to another religion, but no fear of Hell anymore. I am not planning on being there. 😀
Wesleyans DEDICATE a child to the Lord.
When they are old enough to make the baptism decision; they get to do it.
As we did with our two sons. Right in front of the entire church.
Legally? By who's law? Certainly not God's law.
[6] But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. [7] For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife. [8] And they two shall be in one flesh. Therefore now they are not two, but one flesh. [9] What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. again his disciples asked him concerning the same thing. Mark 10
I'll send you her phone# and you can tell her that. :-)
What an awesome testimony! Thanks for sharing it. God bless you and your family.
Was it The Divinity of Jesus Christ
Jeez Louise, ET, what is it with the twenty questions!? This is meant to be an encouraging and inspiring thread of fellow Freepers sharing their Christian faith history. If you want to attack and argue with people over Catholic dogma, start your own thread. You know how to do that.
I think the title was
Evidence that Jesus Claimed to be God
It had excerpts from
Jesus: God, Ghost or Guru (JGGG)
More Than A Carpenter (MTAC)
Evidence That Demands A Verdict (ETDAV)
I posted it on some thread where an atheist was pulling the standard bullshiite of denying the historicity of Jesus claiming Deity.
