My beeber says otherwise, Free Republic is what Freepers make it within the broad, rather loose boundaries set by JR. We have/had canteen song threads, posts of personal music compositions, what kind of pizza are you threads, IT questions, prayer threads , car debate threads and various non-newsy religion threads.

It is what makes Free Republic a community and not another dry news site.

Personally, I just don’t read articles that don’t interest me, just as I changed the station when Rush started talking golf.

Actually FR is a forum, a facility to meet for open discussion, and is what the owner formats and describes it to be, a forum which has a religion section (which this thread is part of) with special (and wise and judicious) moderation, which as a conservative site is "pro-God, pro-life, pro-family...," "The one and only true Judeo-Christian God as taught to us by KJV with no additional editing or books of fiction" [context being versus Mormonism], that "stands for God, family, country. We generally look to Judeo-Christian* guidance on issues of law, morality, justice, freedom, life, family and civil society...If you believe in the Bible (Old and New Testaments) and the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, David, etc, then you believe in our one true Judeo-Christian God. We take the Bible, the Declaration, the Constitution and our Christian founding and heritage seriously, though we are sometimes backsliders."

Thus a speculative thread which on a basic subject, and which is foundational to the conservative culture war we are dealing with, is entirely fitting. If you reject this Biblical foundation and or do not care to read such, no one is forcing you, while those who carelessly just post the first 3 sentences to a linked article when they could post 300 words of the meat of it, including blog pimps, are the ones you could chastise, as i mildly have.
