And thank you. It’s a Biblical event that I find most interesting, that I’ve read countless times, yet I still don’t quite know what to make of it. We probably shouldn’t overthink it: he did it to bring joy to those present, because he wanted to, and his mother asked him to do it.

You’re sure, then, that it wasn’t simply Jesus’ Miracles Spring Training?

Two different artists from two different periods. One an outstanding 15th c. early Northern European Renaissance painter, known for his vibrant use of color and a very realistic style. His scenes are usually somber, austere but the attention to details is remarkable.
The other, Crespi (l7th-18th c.), was from the late Italian Baroque period, which was characterized by exaggerated motion used to produce drama, exuberance, and grandeur. Not my favorite style, much prefer the deep introspective meditation on the David painting.

You are right. Stained glass windows and illustration artists had only to focus on the main theme while painters of large canvasses would add to their heart’s content so to satisfy their clients and always in competition with their fellow artists.

Well, our tastes are certainly opposite there. I’ll leave it at that.

Of course, Dan. You have your favorites and I mine, as it should be.

Haha. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t it, but that is a funny explanation.

I actually enjoy #1. It’s busy detail can entertain the viewer for hours. It’s like Where’s Waldo.

Given that it is twenty-two feet tall, those characters are life-sized. It might be worth a plane flight for you.

He did. Why not? It was fresher and cleaner than juice from a common wine press. All 150 plus gallons of it. Making an intoxicant would only make drunk people drunker, if you can believe the NIV (I don’t).

Given the setting, I think we are looking at a whole lot of Manischewitz.
