There you go again. I never said, nor implied, what you claim above.
Absolutely despicable. Shame on you.
Have heard of the Eighth Commandment?
I think not.
The whole problem is the nature of man-or original sin. Man's nature is evil and conceived in evil. We do not have the will or desire to follow after God. And even when we become “new creatures” in Christ, we are tempted to go back to our old ways. Christ saves us from this dilemma. To think that there is further refining necessary shows a complete lack of understanding on sin and salvation. We are saved by faith alone, in Christ alone.
Hell Is Real—and It Isn’t Empty
Therefore, without succumbing for a moment to anything-goes presumption, we are permitted to hope that all people might be saved. Bobby Barron
Yet, if one thinks that to “hope that all men be saved” means that everyone who has ever lived will evade hell, I would argue that this position is contrary to Holy Scripture, Holy Tradition, magisterial teaching, and personal revelations to saintly Catholics through the centuries.
The Novus Ordo catechism is not the Church.
It is highly flawed.
The 2018 Revised Catholic Catechism
The Catechism—the Catholic Church’s official compilation of teachings on a wide range of issues—was revised to unambiguously oppose capital punishment. The new version of Catechism No. 2267 also committed the Church to work “with determination” to abolish the death penalty worldwide. Prior to the revision, the Catechism had used softer language on the death penalty, permitting it “if this is the only possible way of effectively defending human lives against the unjust aggressor,” while noting that “the cases in which the execution of the offender is an absolute necessity ‘are very rare, if not practically nonexistent.’”
>>but how should we look at Matt 25 Sheeps and goats then?<<
The book of Matthew and the accounts within the book are an account of what he saw during his time with the Messiah. Remember, although the book is called, “The Gospel of Matthew”, it is not the gospel as in the gospel of grace through faith.
Blessed are those who believe, yet not see. That would be you and I and those who accept Jesus as savior. The gospel (the news that is almost too good to be true) began after Jesus was resurrected, ascended and cast His precious blood on the mercy seat of heaven in the temple of our God. This is when the gospel actually began.
The account of Jesus’s life in the gospel of Matthew was Jesus teaching under the law. For instance when Jesus was speaking of plucking out your eye for it is better that...you know the story, Jesus was preparing those under the law to enter into a new covenant. Jesus was teaching those folks how impossible it was to keep the law. How utterly dependent upon HIM and HIS work on the cross.
The separation of the sheep and goats is Jesus speaking of those who would come to believe and those who would embrace the lies of the world.
It is Jesus plus nothing. It is all Him and none of us. Once we are sealed as Christ’s own forever...there is nothing we can do to add to it nor take away from it.
Sin becomes a struggle...not a sentence of eternal separation from the Father.
>>So are you claiming “those who have accepted God’s saving grace” are rescued from sin and all their future sins?
And once saved, always saved?<<
Well that sounds like a loaded question. lol So, if I say... you’re ready to blast away. lol
Yes. That is what I’m saying. You were born into sin and it was of no fault of your own. That would be your sin nature. It is your nature to sin. By one man came sin, by one man Jesus we are rescued from it.
As believers in God’s plan of salvation, we are delivered from the curse of sin, death and the law. Our nature has been transformed from sinner to righteous. Just as it was before the fall of man. Your spirit sits in the heavens with Jesus.
This is what scripture means when it says...reconciled to God. Jesus was God with a bod. He clothed Himself in flesh that he could sympathize with our struggles. Jesus was tempted in every way yet without sin. He knows what we go through.
It is that faith in Him, His spirit living inside us that has saved us from our own flesh, the world and the evil one. Nothing can pluck you from His hand.
1. The First Constitution of the Fourth Lateran Council in 1215 at the very least alludes to the fact that folks then living in AD 1215 would be in hell. This was the opening statement of the Council and its “Profession of the Faith.” The implication is that people from every generation would finally be eternally separated from God, not just people from the 13th century. But, at the very least, for the strict interpreter of the words of the Council, it seems inescapable that the Council taught souls are in hell now:
Indeed, having suffered and died on the wood of the cross for the salvation of the human race, he descended to the underworld, rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. He descended in the soul, rose in the flesh, and ascended in both. He will come at the end of time to judge the living and the dead, to render to every person according to his works, both to the reprobate and to the elect. All of them will rise with their own bodies, which they now wear, (Latin text reads quae nunc gestant—which they are now bearing or wearing) so as to receive according to their deserts, whether these be good or bad; for the latter perpetual punishment with the devil, for the former eternal glory with Christ.

3. Pope John Paul II, in his book, Crossing the Threshold of Hope, provides:
Can God, who has loved man so much, permit the man who rejects Him to be condemned to eternal torment? And yet, the words of Christ are unequivocal. In Matthew’s Gospel he speaks clearly of those who will go to eternal punishment (cf. Matt. 25:46). Who will these be? The Church has never made any pronouncement…” (pg. 185)
Jesus solemnly proclaims that he “will send his angels, and they will gather… all evil doers, and throw them into the furnace of fire,” and that he will pronounce the condemnation: “Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire” (Matt. 25:41)!
Notice, the Church declares that “Jesus solemnly proclaims” and “pronounce[s]” that some will indeed be lost.
You should know better, Murph, than to have asked such a question. But I'm not surprised due to your poor catechesis.
Who will these be? The Church has never made any pronouncement…” (pg. 185) Pope St. John Paul II.
Who do you believe: Pope St. John Paul II or Bobby Barron?
Here's your PUT UP - OR SHUT UP moment, Murph.
Remember Jesus’s promise.
“I have come not to judge, but to save.”
Through accepting Jesus into us in Spirit, the real communion, our souls can we cleansed of sin and purified so that our souls can be clean like a newborn child.
Whether a soul in in body or just spirit, like the vineyard workers, it is not too late to accept Jesus’s Spirit into us until the day is over.
No, it's very much scriptural. Scripture, supporting scripture.
As you probably already realize, we don't take one lil tidbit of scripture and create a doctrine.
After spending a couple of years studying God's word, I believe scripture supports we being reconciled to Him through His plan of salvation through Christ Jesus and His atoning sacrifice. Our nature has been transformed to righteous from sinner because of what Jesus did on the cross.
God is not mad at us. God is not in a bad mood. God doesn't put cancer on people or break their car down if they fail to tithe. All this sort of nonsense is man made.
God is love. It is His nature. It is God's goodness that leads men to Him. Furthermore, we have to read the text in context. Who was Jesus speaking to? Why was he delivering that particular message at that particular time.
Not everything in the bible is meant for YOU. In fact, being a gentile, we were never under the law of Moses. So, I say that to say this...Jesus paid it all.
Humbling ourselves to God is accepting what He has done for us. We do not have to WORK for God's love and acceptance. Man is not capable of keeping the law and Jesus through Matthew's account is evidence of it.
When Jesus preached...pluck out your eye or whack off your hand or sell everything and follow Me...He was preparing them for the New Covenant through his death. Showing those folks just how helpless they were on their own.
So, there it is. We don't have to go around groveling. We are not a stench in the nostrils of God, lowly worms unworthy of his love.
No! Scripture tells us that we are conquerors, righteous, sanctified, the head not the tail, our spirit is sitting in the heavens with Jesus, kingdom priests, worthy child of God, a friend, heir, accepted, saint.
I am one with the Lord and am one spirit with Him! That is good news! If I am one with Jesus and Jesus sits on the throne of heaven...where are we? With Jesus in our spirit.
Scripture says our sins have been put away as far as the East is from the West, into the sea of forgetfulness, no longer imputed, the blood of Jesus cleanses us from ALL sin...not just until you sin again. We will always struggle with sin until the day our flesh dies. Our enemy is the world around us (controlled by the evil one), our flesh and the evil one himself.
What did scripture mean by: Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world? It is talking about Jesus conquering sin in our lives.
Paul addresses sin over and over. Acknowledging his struggles in the flesh and acknowledging to God...Your grace is sufficient for me. Beautiful stuff.
Anyhoo...I am convinced that I walk in the favor of God and that He is not against me...even if I trip up. He is there to help guide my path and shower His love and acceptance on me.
No one has it 100% right. But after studying for a couple of years and graduating with an associates in biblical studies, I am convinced that God's plan of salvation through Messiah Jesus was to make right what happened in the garden.
Through one man sin entered the world, through one man Jesus, we have been rescued from the curse of sin, the law and death.
God bless partner.
