Pastor John MacArthur: It's 'Too Late' for America, We're Under Judgment

Pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, recently preached a sobering message suggesting that it may be too late for America to be saved because the nation is already under God's judgment.

The popular preacher and author delivered the sermon, "Too Late for Grace: When a Nation Rejects God," to his congregation on Palm Sunday. MacArthur's primary text was from the Parable of the Vineyard Owner (Mark 12:1-12), where a vineyard owner allowed tenants to oversee his vineyard when he went to another country. The vineyard owner sent slaves to the tents to collect the vineyard's fruit throughout their stay, but the tenants would beat them or kill them.

The vineyard owner even sent his son, saying, "They will respect my son." The tenants, however, would kill the owner's son as well. In response to their heinous actions, the vineyard owner "will come to destroy the tenants and give the vineyard to others." (v9)

The text continues: "Have you not read this Scripture: The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone; this was the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?" (v10-11)

In his message, MacArthur explained that the parable was about judgment, saying that "with this parable," Jesus "pledges the destruction of Jerusalem and the nation."

"Vengeance will come, and it must come, and it did," MacArthur said, referring to the destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman Empire in 70 AD.

"The temple was never rebuilt, the priesthood was never recovered," he continued. "No sacrifices, no ceremonies, no Sadducees, no Pharisees, no priests, no chief priests to this day. The whole system ended."

well, we’re certainly under judgement. we’re occupied and the enemy is having their way with us.

but, i don’t know about the too late part. there’s still time for God’s mercy. may God have mercy on us and the United States of America.

I really dislike headlines and commentary such as this.

When's the last time that Pastor John MacArthur of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, ever taught his congregation that our Liberty is the direct gift of God and that his congregation ought to get out there and do something about it to protect it?

I'd bet that the phrase "the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God" have never been spoken in his official capacity on any given Sunday.

The pastors have their hands completely hands-off, and then now things are so bad it's "oh woe is me". Grandson Finney spoke of this moment.

Brethren, our preaching will bear its legitimate fruits. If immorality prevails in the land, the fault is ours in a great degree. If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discrimination, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in religion, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it. Let us not ignore this fact, my dear brethren; but let us lay it to heart, and be thoroughly awake to our responsibility in respect to the morals of this nation

- Charles Grandison Finney, "The Decay of Conscience"

You need to pay attention more. MACarthur has been fighting this quite publically for at least the past couple of years.

RE: Pastor John MacArthur: It’s ‘Too Late’ for America, We’re Under Judgment

If it is true that the last national election and the January Georgia runoffs were NOT rigged (arguably rigged but let’s accept this premise for now), then yes, America is already under judgment because we have chosen the kind of leaders that will being this country to ruin.

The danger to America is not Joe Biden but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Biden presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president.

The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Slo Joe, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince.

The Republic can survive a Biden-Harris administration, who are, after all, merely a tandem of fools. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made them the President and VP.

THIS IS JUDGMENT - God using our perverse mindset to punish ourselves. Reminds me of this verse in the new Testament:

“Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves,” ( Romans 1:24 )

https://www.gracechurch.org/news

Just for fun I went to their website and looked at their news and events calendar and guess what I didn’t see as a past event on July 4th 2020? A full reading of the Declaration. Guess what isn’t announced for this July 4th? A reading of the Declaration. Just so it’s said, it wasn’t on July 2nd either. The Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God? Not on our watch!

There is a complete disconnect between America as a Christian Country, and America’s Christian Churches as the defenders and advancers of it.

How is it that we have a Christian country and they’re not on board? Blows my mind.

Maybe MacArthur is one of those precious few good ones. I can accept that.

Precious, precious, precious few.

If half of the Churches in this country read the Declaration every year. If a quarter did it.

We wouldn’t be in this mess.

Either one of you actually attend his services and can speak to what is said inside? If you would prefer not make that public I understand.

Here’s the sermon that followed July 4th of last year. Notice what is missing?

https://www.gty.org/library/sermons-library/81-84

I only mention July 4th because it’s the most obvious day, but it could be any sermon on any day throughout the year. Thanksgiving is another big one for teaching the uniqueness of American Liberty and our nation’s Christian heritage.

So it’s said, I don’t mean to single this guy out. For reasons I’d rather not say publicly, I am in the process of finding a new Church. It’s not pretty. I’ve been through a lot of them.

All these pastors want to do is read from the Bible and call it a day. I could see you doing that in the Middle East in an Islamic country where they don’t have anything special. But we have a country based on these very ideals!

If I were in a courtroom and had to prove that pastors believed that America was a Christian Country, I know for certain I could not get a conviction and I don’t think it would be possible to get a hung jury.

Our Liberty is a gift from God and its a huge secret. There’s no way pastors are teaching this widespread. It’s impossible.

Again: Charles Grandison Finney.

This.

Good preaching. Continue.

I agree with every part of that message. It rings true for this very time.

Agree. We are doing things and accepting things that Sodom & Gomorrah didn’t.

We continue to murder 60,000 babies a year !!! he is right!!!!

Until the scorch of the murder of innocent life is cleansed from the soul of America

and we atone for the sins of the 60 or 70 million souls extinguished

this nation suffers. And will suffer.

Demons are running the show

I have been sensing for some time that for America - and the world - God’s righteous judgement is coming and will not be held back. Maybe 40 or 50 years ago the tide could have been turned and our nation brought to humble repentance before God but it is way too late now. I never thought I would see the kind of insane debauchery, societal destruction and immorality openly celebrated today but here it is. I think even if Trump was reelected (which we know he really was), it would not have helped for very long - the effect would only have been temporary. We are hurtling towards the Biblical end times long ago prophesized. Whatever comes, whenever it comes will be well deserved.

I believed that God should judge America over 25 years ago during the Clinton years. Then September 11 happened. Around that time MacArthur wrote a small book “Can God Bless America?”
It became even more obvious how bad things were when Obama entered office. Of course a “win” by either McCain or Romney would only have been a difference without a distinction.
The Lord knows those who belong to Him. But things are likely to get a lot worse in the months and years ahead.

I have read the entire Declaration of Independence a few times. It is a nice piece for sure. But it is not Holy Scripture. In fact, there are some parts of it that I believe miss the mark from a Biblical perspective.
It is the foundational document of our republic. But that doesn’t mean it is perfect.
Okay-flamesuit is zipped up.
