Why?
Probably this:
1 Corinthians 11:27
Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
Now we'll have to define what UNWORTHY means...

If you're not a Catholic, and received in ignorance, consider it a warning. It seems to me that many Catholics receive things in ignorance.
And, when shown the error; tend to explain away in defiance.

As a long time defender of Catholics from being bashed...As a Prot, I hate to see this happen, but, more often than not, it is CatholicISM that is being bashed.
But many Catholics FEEL this on a personal level.

Based on the the Bible and not what some pope in Rome might think.NOW you've done it!!
Given them an opening to state: "Well; Rome GAVE you your bible, so who better to tell you what it really means?"

Or musical instruments at all. NOW you have done it!!
Offended those who have only a pitchpipe to get them started singing.
They'll correctly point out that the NT church had no pianos or organs, and that's why they don't use them.
Of course, they drive their cars to church and read their bibles from electrical lighting fixtures, so ya gotta be selective.

Her last post...
Many need reminding that the Papal Magisterium does not extend to prudential judgments on the efficacy or safety of an array of possible vaccines, medicines, prophylactic regimens or public health approaches. Bonus insight: nor does infallibility pertain to papal diplomacy.

Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Coptic, Armenian, Ethiopian, Syriac, Assyrian, heck even Lutherans, many Anglicans, Methodists believe in the True presence of Christ in the Eucharist.
The overwhelming majority of Christians today believe in it.
All of Christianity believed in the true presence of the body of Christ in the Eucharist, just as Jesus said.
R2nds “communion” isn’t Christian by Jesus own definition.
You either believe in the Christian (Catholic, orthodox, Lutheran etc) belief in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist or you deny Christ’s own words and follow Responsibility2nds teachings

the Apostolic provenance of such universal and ancient beliefs/practices as the Eucharistic Real Presence, Liturgy as a Sacrifice, Sacraments, hierarchy and apostolic succession, veneration for Mary and the intercessory role of the Saints (both one earth and in heaven), prayer for the dead, the real, vital necessity of the Church as Communion of Saints / Mystical Body of Christ, and more are and were observed in churches from Gaul to Gibraltar to North Africa to Syria, to Armenia to Iraq and Iran (Persia) and beyond, in Europe, Asia and Africa, in churches which were associated with Rome or Constantinople or Ctesiphon OR none of the above! -— and who claim it from their Apostolic founders.

And, unfortunately, the bashers are doing it AT a personal level, rather than having a calm discussion.

Guess I need to learn how to make it a "Catholic Caucus" thread. Might help a little...
This posting was primarily of Catholic interest, though I'm delighted that it has provoked so much conversation.
In my experience/observation, the line in the sand between Catholics and Protestants comes down to apostolic succession/the authority of the pope. Either the Church has the authority to say and teach as She does or not. And yes, my Protestant friends, there is biblical basis for papal authority, otherwise Catholics would not believe it.
Blessings to all!
