There’s nothing in the Bible to suggest that there was going to be a succession of “apostles” after the twelve died. And certainly no Pope either.
Bob, how do you account for the Apostles choosing Matthias to replace Judas and making Paul an Apostle?
Replacing the Apostles, would seem to be exactly the Lord's intent. But I'm no expert, that's just how I read it.

Bob, how do you account for the Apostles choosing Matthias to replace Judas and making Paul an Apostle? The intent was for there to be twelve. Judas disgraced himself and was replaced. End of story. Remember Judas was not selected by Jesus but "volunteered".

So where do you read this eternal perpetual succession? Chapter and verse please.
