I have often wondered about who the virgins are in the story.

I know most preaching I have heard is that they are Christians, but I tend to disagree.

The virgins are there for the wedding feast and waiting for the Bridegroom.

It’s generally recognized that Christ is the bridegroom. However, the virgins are not the bride.

WE, the church, are the bride. The bridegroom is not going to marry the virgins, he’s going to marry the bride. The virgins are guests or something.

I don’t know who the virgins are to represent but considering who the bride is, I don’t they they are the church.

The virgins are attending OUR wedding to the groom, not theirs.

Cotext is the key. Paul says we Christians are the virgins espoused to Christ in 2 Cor 11
