My 61 year old brother Dan who has developmental disability has been in the hospital over 2 weeks with serious surgical complications.
He has a bowel leak and abscess formation after 2 surgeries for volvulus (a twisted colon). Antibiotics are not helping much and he is delirious, which is so hard to watch.
Please pray for him and his medical team.
Father in Heaven, please grant Dan healing and comfort. Please lift his immune system and decrease his pain. As the drugs confuse him, please remind him of Your presence and keep him by your side through this trial.
Father in Heaven, I ask that you give Dan’s physicians your healing insights and guild their decisions.
Please embrace GnuThere and all those who love Dan and give them, and Dan, the peace that surpasses all understanding.
Thank your for the blessing of Dan’s life, Father.

His grandson is providing in-home care but wound up somehow sleeping or passed out in the basement. With my injured friend yelling and finally resulting in calling me over to wake the young man. I actually had to shake him and then explain his grandfather needed him before he woke from where ever he was.
As a person who has had a death of a loved one due to od it's just a bad memory. I'm not sure what is going on. Maybe I don't want to know. He's a very young man. Graduated high school last year I think.
Maybe it's just learning that dependent people are actually dependent on helpers but I'm glad I was able to help out tonight.
God Bless all those people who care for others like my wonderful wife. Hopefully Dan has good caregivers too.
Father, in the Name of Jesus, please look on this man and heal him, body, soul, and spirit. Give the doctors wisdom as they treat him, and guide their hands, we pray. Amen.

Abstract:
Connections between the gut and brain monitor the intestinal tissue and its microbial and dietary content, regulating both physiological intestinal functions such as nutrient absorption and motility, and brain-wired feeding behaviour.
It is therefore plausible that circuits exist to detect gut microorganisms and relay this information to areas of the central nervous system that, in turn, regulate gut physiology . . . etc . . .
Retrograde polysynaptic neuronal tracing from the intestinal wall identifies brainstem sensory nuclei that are activated during microbial depletion, as well as efferent sympathetic premotor glutamatergic neurons that regulate gastrointestinal transit.
These results reveal microbiota-dependent control of gut-extrinsic sympathetic activation through a gut-brain circuit.
