For many Christians, Luke 1:46,47 is plainly understood and not open to interpretation.
Yes, Mary is unique. She is the Lord's mother. She is rightly due honor and veneration in the church and in heaven. However, nowhere does the scripture show that she is a co-redemptrix or that we need a co-redemptrix.
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" - 1 Tim 2:5
Orthodox Christians doe NOT hold that Mary is co-redemptrix. That is a Roman Catholic extrapolation we do not teach.
Well throw out your Bible then because it is contradictory.......
Just before your fave mediator line in Tim 2.. Paul outlines why the what for is in ... FOR there is One God
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
So St. Paul In fact says WE CAN pray and intercede in that they BE MADE FOR ALL MEN - and that it is acceptable to God...
If the Blessed Virgin Mary will pray FOR this sinner, Im in.
But the confusion sets in..... as in Hebrews as well.....we do learn again He LIVES TO MAKE INTERCESSION FOR THEM
24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues forever. 25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost[b] those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.
So is St. Paul is mixed up about who can actually make intercession......Or are there other forms of intercession going on here?
