Liberals sometimes ask, how can Christians support Trump, given that he has not lived his life as a devout Christian himself.

In my opinion, the answers to such questions are:

1. We are electing people to high positions in our secular government, not selecting people to run our religious organizations when we vote in elections.

2. In many elections, from president on down to local city council elections, it is common that no candidate is strongly religious or strongly Christian.

3. Liberals ignore the fact that politicians who have run against Trump in elections are not devout Christians, so you have an election in which there is no way to vote for a devout Christian such as yourself.

4. Liberals seems to think that people who are members of various groups, blacks, Christians, Asians, etc. will or should support one of their group running for office. Exhibit A is Jimmy Carter. He was proud to say he was a born again Christian. I am not here to question the faith of Carter, but can say that I strongly opposed him, politically speaking. His being a born again Christian did not override his policies, when I was deciding who to vote for. And we vote for people to run our secular government. Our votes are not a proxy vote on whether we approve of a candidate’s religion.
