A Nation where the Gospel of Jesus Christ might flourish and certainly has over the 200 plus year history. -- the thing is that

1. The people migrating to the fledgling USA until the 1970s were overwhelming ALREADY Christian
2. The native Americans in the continent were already largely converted by the Spanish -- not in mid and eastern USA but in the west and south

On the one hand, you are able to ignore the size scope and scripture within the Book of Mormon, the witnesses to the Plates from which it was translated, and the Angel presenting them, and take issue with a date and death of a member of the quorum of the Twelve Apostles, that in your mind is evidence somehow of Joseph Smith not being a Prophet.

I believe that is my point precisely. Lets put a date limit in there which I failed to express. For the first one hundred and fifty years of migration, why in your opinion, were they leaving their homeland for the new world?

From Adventist review We now have 50 years of data on both how many people have joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church and how many church members have left. The former are the figures that we usually emphasize in reports, but the statistics of loss (which do not include deaths) are shocking and demand action.

During the past 50 years (1965–2014) a grand total of 33,202,016 people have been members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Of these, however, 13,026,925 have left the church (see Figure 1).

Re SDA church membership: I don’t keep track of it. All I know is that my church is bursting at the seams and we need more space. I suppose that’s a good thing.
