“I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

“Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Father Almighty,
Perfect in wisdom, in foresight, in provision for your faithful ones, hear our prayer!

In these days of ongoing unrest, we confess that we are tempted to forget Your Hand of protection on our souls.

Help us to be like Your wild lilies, Father: created by You for Your pleasure and glory, sustained by Your nature, sustaining other life with pollen, vegatation and beauty.

Like the lilies of the field, we have our brief time to shine before our physical nature ends up withered compost. While we are here, help us live our role to the furtherance of Your kingdom, Lord, whether we grace a fine vase or are eaten by deer.

May our daily prayers support the brave hearts of our President, Vice President, military, first responders and health care workers dealing with lawlessness, ignorance, international threats, and pandemic. May our prayers pollinate FR, our families and communities with faith like an unexpected sweet taste of honey.

In this life we may have trouble, but let us float in Your fresh air like the birds or the lilies, Father, living our purpose in You without worry or complaint about what may happen next; for we are Your children, made at Your pleasure for Your glory.

Dear Lord, continue to fill us with peace, as the lilies of the field, though the enemy tries to burn this nation to the ground. Continue to multiply our trust and our confidence in You.

Let us not be shaken by the current events. Let us not be distracted from the hope that is in You. Let them not rob our joy. But Lord, warm our hearts that we will always walk in victory and in celebration of Your Name.

Thank you Lord Jesus, help us to number out days. Our present crisis does grieve us yet we know we can trust your wisdom, which we desperately need. Protect us from the traps and entanglement of the predators. Let not the lords of chaos destroy your people.

I am reminded of a field of lilies we came upon while hiking in the Colorado mountains. They sprung up from the ashes of a forest fire. It was a sight to behold!

May America bloom again. May what was intended for evil, be turned to good.
