Christ with the double edged sword in apocalypse 16 echoes Isaiah 11 - and this is God’s covenant judgement on Jerusalem of 67 to 70 AD — the city that crucified the Lord

I get it to play 'god' by definition it must need distort what was actually foretold. John penned the book of Revelation ... and he penned that he was taken in 'spirit' to the 'Lord's day... John was NOT talking about some sunrise service, or some 'sunday' mass ... He was talking about the return of Christ...

Since Peter's name is used in 'vain' for where a doctrine of salvation is advertised, Peter himself penned that Christ while in the tomb went to all those back to Noah and they were offered salvation FIRST ... you know those 'saints', that Paul said were 'chosen' BEFORE the foundation of this world ... Katabolle... or the over throw, casting down of the devil's rebellion????? The Heavenly Father has NO need of man to pick His saints ... they were already chosen before the Garden Party of Genesis.

Ezekiel penned that Jerusalem was the Heavenly Father's most favorite place of all His creation ... Think for one second the 'devil' does not know this? IF 'history' recorded is correct it was ROME that 'elected' the religious leaders to play church at the time of Christ, sure was not the selection by the Heavenly Father.

That 'double edged' sword is the Word of God, and it 'cuts' both left to the right... especially those that play church, worship church and claim they are the only way to Christ.

Matthew 16:28
28. Verily I say unto you. There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
The Apostles all died in the 1st century. The Kingdom of God came in that time - and it is the Church

28. Amen I say to you, there are some of them that stand here, that shall not taste death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

by the kingdom of God is meant the present Church, and because some of His disciples were to live so long in the body as to behold the Church of God built up and raised against the glory of this world, this comfortable promise is given them, There be some of them standing here.

That could also be interpreted that the remnant up on the mount got to witness His Transfiguration in the Kingdom.

And only three (some) got to see that before they tasted death.

That’s a timely verse in my studies.
Today marks the day Moses comes down the mount with the second set of tables of the Covenant.

Exodus 34 records that.
His face shines.

Interesting because we have Moses and EliYah on the mount of Transfiguration with the disciples.
There is an account of EliYah on mount Horeb too, even covering his face.

Since it is the 11th day of His 6th month, maybe that’s why He mentions it’s an 11 day journey in Deuteronomy.
Today could actually commemorate all those events.

What is interesting about the mount and Moses and EliYah, is that there was only 3 disciples who witnessed Him and His Kingdom.

The rest, 9 of the 12, were down off the mount and fighting against demons- and frankly, losing.

I don’t disagree the church represents a Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
In one way, a restored garden.

But the scriptures say Satan was in the garden.
Scriptures also say Satan entered Judas, the 12th disciple.
The disciple that held all the money.

Satan in the church was predicted.
The shepherd staff and the priesthood( Aaron) turned into serpent.
The scriptures are also not silent about a Judah priesthood and what that would bring.

Being a representation of the Kingdom of heaven on earth comes with good and evil.
Especially since the Tree of Life isn’t on earth.
He is in Heaven.
That leaves one tree to eat from. And Satan offering the fruit.

Again, there were only 3, or a small remnant, who witnessed His Kingdom on the mount before tasting death.

The rest were left on the ground/earth to fight demons.
And they were losing until He returned with a remnant.

There may be a preachable sermon in there somewhere.

It may also be telling that today may be an eventful, biblical day to commemorate, and the Kingdom of Heaven on earth is unaware.

They were unaware 11 days ago. That’s a shame because December 25 isn’t true.

They were unaware 3 days ago. That’s a shame because January 1 isnt true.

Theyll probably be unaware 40 days from 11 days ago.
That’s a shame because February 2 isn’t true.

For representing the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, the church misses His Birth/Baptism, Circumcision and Presentation in the temple/Beginning of His ministry.
Holy appointments He taught Israel as rehearsals in His Kingdom.

The world, even the Kingdom of Heaven on earth, has experienced Satan influenced, demon possessed swine years.
About 2,000 of them.
Lots about the Kingdom in the scriptures.
Some of the representations and mysteries reveal evil at work within the Kingdom.
More of a Babylon than a Zion.
More of a Bronze serpent in the wilderness.

Matthew 21:43 “
Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people that will produce its fruit.”

MArk 1:15 “
“This is the time of fulfillment. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel.” “

Mark 9:1 He also said to them, “Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see that the kingdom of God has come in power.”

Mark 14:25
Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”
—> and note that he ate and drank with them after the resurrection

Revelations 1:4-6
4 John, to the seven churches in Asia:[d] grace to you and peace from him who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead and ruler of the kings of the earth. To him who loves us and has freed us[e] from our sins by his blood, 6 who has made us into a kingdom, priests for his God and Father, to him be glory and power forever [and ever]. Amen.

Revelations 1:9 I, John, your brother, who share with you the distress, the kingdom, and the endurance we have in Jesus, found myself on the island called Patmos

The Bible is clear - the Kingdom of God was won by Jesus’s sacrifice. We are living in the Kingdom of God - in Jesus’ Church created in 33 AD

Jesus is the King of this spiritual kingdom.

15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

(Mark 1:15 KJV)

43 And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.

(Luke 4:43 KJV)

2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick. ... 60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

(Luke 9:2, 60 KJV)

9 And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

(Luke 10:9 KJV)

28 There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

(Luke 13:28 KJV)

By the context the Kingdom of God then are the saved ones in heaven and the ones on earth,

the church saved by the gospel preached since Eden,

the promised seed that should crush Satan,

the redemer, Genesis 3:15.

The gospel that Abraham foreknew,

when he prophecy that in the mount God sould provide of sacrifice,

not the provisional ram foreshadow of the messiah, but Jesus!

7 And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? 8 And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. 9 And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. ... 13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. 14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen

. (Genesis 22:7-9, 13-14 KJV)

Traduction of NKJV:

14 And Abraham called the name of the place, The-LORD-Will-Provide; as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the LORD it shall be provided.”

(Genesis 22:14 NKJV)

The kingdom of God began with Christ’s death and resurrection and must be further extended by Christians until it has been brought into perfection by Christ at the end of time, the kingdom of God is in the here and now, present in and through the Church. Yet it is a mixed reality that will only be perfectly realized at the end of history. This current “mixed” state can be seen as the Church on earth which now grows in the field of the world with both weeds and wheat until the harvest when Christ says he will “tell the reapers, Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned. But gather the wheat into my barn” (Matt 13:30).

In Matthew 12:28, Jesus tells the Pharisees that the Kingdom of God has come upon them.

In Mark 12:34, He also tells the scribe that he is not far from the Kingdom of God.

In Matthew 16:19, Jesus gives Peter the keys to the Kingdom, and then establishes His Church on Peter the Rock. Jesus says that whatever this Church binds on earth shall be bound in heaven, where Jesus reigns now.

So what does all of this tell us? It tells us that the Kingdom of God was established on earth by Jesus Christ in the year 33 AD, in the form of His Church

In Ephesians 5:23, The Bible says that Jesus is the Head of His Body, the Church. So here we have a divinely created Church led by Peter and His successors on earth, with Jesus Christ as its Head, that is actually the Kingdom of God.

Notice that Jesus didn’t tell His Apostles to wait 2000 years to begin the Kingdom!

Not really.

In the OT, there is only time the phrase “Kingdom of God” is used - and that’s in the Wisdom of Solomon.

In the NT it is used 99 times and 90 times by Jesus - specifically talking about “the Kingdom is AT HAND” and talking about the Kingdom coming after He has resurrected and drank wine with the Disciples. Namely the Kingdom of God has come and been since 33 AD

I think I will remain outside this organization, and I am comfortable with my choice. 😁🤪

it must need distort what was actually foretold.

No, only your posts seem to do that, but the Bible does not

Let's look at the double-edged sword in Apocalypse

And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

This verse tells you exactly that the Apocalypse of St. John of Patmos is a very symbol-filled book

Well, the name itself - the Apocalypse, should tell you it is symbol filled

Apocalyptic literature must be read with the full awareness of how it was intended when it was written - that is the basic rule of hermeneutics - similar to how poetry in the bible is to be read as poetry, rules, and history as rules and history.

Apocalyptic text in the Bible does more than use vivid, symbolic imagery. It also supernaturally informs readers about future events - as in the case of revelation about the destruction of Jerusalem in 70 AD

Now in Apoc 1:12, John turns to "see" a "voice" - John is alluding to Daniel 7:11 in which Daniel says "Then I beheld the voice".

After this, Daniel sees "one like a son of man" (7:13). This is reflected in John who turns to see a voice and then beholds "one like a son of man"

Note also that Jesus is wearing the vestments of the High priest

The imagery in Apoc 1:13-16 is from Daniel 7 but also from Daniel 10 "I lifted up my eyes and looked, and behold, a man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with gold of Uphaz..."

The "two edged sword" as I point out is Isaiah 11:4 But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth: with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

And we see this in the chapters from 5 onwards how God will smite the unholy Sanhedrin and destroy the city "where the Lord was crucified" - namely Jerusalem

So Just nothoughts - Christ HAS returned with a double edged sword ...

He took NO prisoners (Jerusalem was levelled to the ground and rendered to a field as in scripture...

All this self interpretations and leaving from God's Church is spoken of in Revelations 2 you Nicolaitanes, ...

ONLY two of those churches are in good standing, namely Orthodox-Catholic and Oriental-Assyrian ...

Yours, "Just nothoughts", as you point out, does NOT make the cut..

Matthew 16 in detail says
[1] And there came to him the Pharisees and Sadducees tempting: and they asked him to shew them a sign from heaven. [2] But he answered and said to them: When it is evening, you say, It will be fair weather, for the sky is red. [3] And in the morning: Today there will be a storm, for the sky is red and lowering. You know then how to discern the face of the sky: and can you not know the signs of the times? [4] A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign: and a sign shall not be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. And he left them, and went away. [5] And when his disciples were come over the water, they had forgotten to take bread.

[6] Who said to them: Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees. [7] But they thought within themselves, saying: Because we have taken no bread. [8] And Jesus knowing it, said: Why do you think within yourselves, O ye of little faith, for that you have no bread? [9] Do you not yet understand, neither do you remember the five loaves among five thousand men, and how many baskets you took up? [10] Nor the seven loaves among four thousand men, and how many baskets you took up?

[11] Why do you not understand that it was not concerning the bread I said to you: Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees? [12] Then they understood that he said not that they should beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees

[13] And Jesus came into the quarters of Caesarea Philippi: and he asked his disciples, saying: Whom do men say that the Son of man is? [14] But they said: Some John the Baptist, and other some Elias, and others Jeremias, or one of the prophets. [15] Jesus saith to them: But whom do you say that I am?

[16] Simon Peter answered and said: Thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. [17] And Jesus answering, said to him: Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven. [18] And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. [19] And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven. And whatsoever thou shalt bind upon earth, it shall be bound also in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose upon earth, it shall be loosed also in heaven. [20] Then he commanded his disciples, that they should tell no one that he was Jesus the Christ.

[21] From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the ancients and scribes and chief priests, and be put to death, and the third day rise again. [22] And Peter taking him, began to rebuke him, saying: Lord, be it far from thee, this shall not be unto thee. [23] Who turning, said to Peter: Go behind me, Satan, thou art a scandal unto me: because thou savourest not the things that are of God, but the things that are of men. [24] Then Jesus said to his disciples: If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. [25] For he that will save his life, shall lose it: and he that shall lose his life for my sake, shall find it.

[26] For what doth it profit a man, if he gain the whole world, and suffer the loss of his own soul? Or what exchange shall a man give for his soul? [27] For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels: and then will he render to every man according to his works. [28] Amen I say to you, there are some of them that stand here, that shall not taste death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
This is very clear:
  1. Beware the other two sects of 2nd temple Judaism - the pharisee (the spiritual ancestors of what we call "Jews" today), the sadducee sect. And hold to His teachings, the teachings of the Jesus-movement 2nd temple Judaic sect

  2. "Who do you say I am?" -
    • "Thou art Christ, the Son of the Living God"
    • Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-Jona: because flesh and blood hath not revealed it to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.
    • "Thou art Rock, and upon this rock, I will build my church" - Et ego dico tibi, quia tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam, et portae inferi non praevalebunt adversus eam. or κἀγὼ δέ σοι λέγω ὅτι σὺ εἶ Πέτρος, καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτῃ τῇ πέτρᾳ οἰκοδομήσω μου τὴν ἐκκλησίαν, καὶ πύλαι ᾅδου οὐ κατισχύσουσιν αὐτῆς·

  3. Then From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples, that he must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the ancients and scribes and chief priests, and be put to death, and the third day rise again.

  4. And Peter is rebuked for saying "don't let it be so"
  5. Jesus then teaches other things to the Disciples

  6. Amen I say to you, there are some of them that stand here, that shall not taste death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

The text is clearly directed at the Disciples. And it clearly is about after Jesus dies and rises again.

This is not about what some see on the mount

The rest, 9 of the 12, were down off the mount and fighting against demons- and frankly, losing.

Note that even among the three, they still have to work at their belief and endure to the end -- and they DID endure to the end, through suffering. All of them did (bar Judas of course)

And to the point of the days - every day we celebrate in the Divine Liturgy, we witness the incarnation of the Christ, His teachings, His miracles, His sacrifice and His reincarnation and our spiritual food, our manna.

Dec 25, Jan 1 are days. The High holy day is Passover - called Pascha

The book of the Apocalypse states clearly that Jerusalem per-70 AD is the renewed Babylon - the city "where the Lord was crucified" and would be destroyed in 70 AD

Then what? The heavenly Jerusalem, the Church.

And the temple? Jesus is the new Temple in the new Jerusalem - the Church. And it is not corrupted, God does not will that and it does not happen.

Good point

Matthew
English: Douay-Rheims Latin: Vulgata Clementina Greek NT: Byzantine/Majority Text (2000)
  Matthew 19
23 Then Jesus said to his disciples: Amen, I say to you, that a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. Jesus autem dixit discipulis suis : Amen dico vobis, quia dives difficile intrabit in regnum cælorum. ο δε ιησους ειπεν τοις μαθηταις αυτου αμην λεγω υμιν οτι δυσκολως πλουσιος εισελευσεται εις την βασιλειαν των ουρανων
24 And again I say to you: It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of heaven.

The kingdom of God: as in Mt 12:28; 21:31, 43 instead of Matthew’s usual kingdom of heaven.

however both are used to refer to what Christ inaugurates on His ascension.

You are correct, that this is NOT just some earthly realm - I added the "just" - the Kingdom is God's covenant family. The Church is the physical representation on earth of the Kingdom of God in heaven

The Bible continually uses the terms kingdom of God, Kingdom of heaven, Messianic Kingdom and Church interchangeably

-- And if we look at Daniel's timing - he was clear that the Kingdom of heaven would start in the 1st century AD

Let's look at Matthew 13

He put another parable before them, saying, “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a man who sowed good seed in his field, 25 but while his men were sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds[a] among the wheat and went away. 26 So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared also. 27 And the servants[b] of the master of the house came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have weeds?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ So the servants said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest in gathering the weeds you root up the wheat along with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, “Gather the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” (Matt. 13:24-30, ESV)
What is this saying? Jesus is saying the kingdom of God has arrived and is GROWING. BUT…the kingdom of the world and demons (Jesus always appears to take note of BOTH earthly and heavenly realities as at war with one another) has been sown and is ALSO GROWING. God is permitting this too, so that his kingdom may continue to grow and that perhaps some of those weeds might become wheat.

From the standpoint of a Christian believer, the Kingdom of God is considered the Church of Christ or the Church of the Firstborn as stated in the New Testament. So in essence that means yes, it exists now.

The Kingdom of God has already arrived, and was fully instituted by Christ while He was on earth. There are three dimensions of the Kingdom of God, and all three remain valid:

  1. The Christological dimension, in other words, Jesus Himself is the incarnation of God’s Kingdom on earth. Luke 11:20; Luke 17:21; Matthew 13:44, 13:45–46.

  2. Mystical dimension, in which the Kingdom is understood as being in our heart, Eph 3:16–17, Luke 17:21, etc.

  3. Ecclesiological dimension: the Kingdom of God is the Catholic Church. This dimension is clearest in some of the Kingdom parables of Matthew 13; as well as John 3:4, Col 1:13, Rev 1:6, 9; 5:10. And most especially in Hebrews 12:22–28.

Namely the Kingdom of God has come and been since 33 AD

Pope Stephen VI (896–897), who had his predecessor Pope Formosus exhumed, tried, de-fingered, briefly reburied, and thrown in the Tiber.[1]

Pope John XII (955–964), who gave land to a mistress, murdered several people, and was killed by a man who caught him in bed with his wife.

Pope Benedict IX (1032–1044, 1045, 1047–1048), who "sold" the Papacy

Pope Boniface VIII (1294–1303), who is lampooned in Dante's Divine Comedy

Pope Urban VI (1378–1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.[2]

Pope Alexander VI (1492–1503), a Borgia, who was guilty of nepotism and whose unattended corpse swelled until it could barely fit in a coffin.[3]

Pope Leo X (1513–1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony[4]
