Rob McCoy of Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Newbury Park told LifeSite that the 'draconian' measures imposed by the state are 'an overreach' and that he has no intention of closing his church.
THOUSAND OAKS, California, August 14, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) Churches across the state of California are being forced to halt indoor worship services thanks to a decree issued by liberal Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom. But one Christian pastor is defying the states orders and literally risking his freedom for his sheep.
Rob McCoy of Godspeak Calvary Chapel in Newbury Park told LifeSite correspondent Lisa Stover today that the draconian measures imposed by the state are an overreach and that he has no intention of closing his church.
If your doors are closed because you have a fear of man instead of a reverential fear of God, then you have to measure that and take a look at it, he said.
The supervisors and the counselors and all the folks that run government, theyre actors performing a script, McCoy continued. If we're not going to push back, they'll take everything we surrender to them. And we really have to stand because I know how government works. Most pastors dont. I do.
McCoy had been serving on the Thousand Oaks City Council until April when he resigned over religious objections he had with the states coronavirus orders. I cannot submit to the authority that declares the church to be nonessential he said in a sermon at the time.

All churches should defy the governor and declare their churches open for worship. They can’t arrest them all. And it would be extremely bad press with the police arresting pastors and little old ladies and families for going to church. It will be as though the Chicoms were in charge.
Godspeed.
Our church doesn’t discourage anyone from carrying.

To these Petty Tyrants!
I play in the worship band and at least 3 of us onstage carry every Sunday, as well as the Pastor.
Our church will not allow those who disagree with the pastor to carry.
Amen!
Carry? Carry what?

absolutely! ... mass arrests would totally expose the Democrat fascists for what they really are! if they fail to arrest, then it shows that their illegal degrees are unenforceable ...
This is a rare man these days — a real leader. Where are all the leaders? Where have they gone? The people are groaning for Godly leaders. Stand up, men of God! Have courage and speak truth! Do what is right and true! The people will support you.
Every church needs to open back up.
The water bucket from the lake I was fishing on when my boat capsized. It holds a Special fish.
A lot of them do...mine does. They just don’t advertise it. The men in my church are real men.
People arrested for going to church. Next they will be feeding the Christians to the lions.
