I don’t know. I once watched a discussion between a hard core conservative Christian and the dean of religion or maybe Bible, of a very conservative university.

They were very close friends but totally disagreed on the rapture.

Very important for Christians to understand that we can disagree about The Rapture, the timing of it, and all that other jazz associated with it.

Some hard-core people actually believe it’s heresy to believe such a teaching and that you’ll end up in hell.

They can’t prove it with Scripture of course.

I think the pastors at our church are probably all over the place on the idea of the rapture. The one guy that I look up to has made a very good case that the “rapture” is a modern idea so that modern Christians can feel good that they will not have to endure the trials of persecution of the end times.

“Okay - so when as THAT every been the case!? Christians have been persecuted forever but serve and help and used by God to witness to others in times of trouble.”

ONE of his many scriptures that he uses is from Matthew 24:

37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.”

***********************

So - in verse 39 (Noah’s time), WHO is “taken” away, and who is left?

In verses 40 and 41: WHO is “taken” away and who is left?

Jesus is coming to redeem the entire earth, and will create HIS Kingdom on EARTH.

***************

I have no idea what our head pastor believes. One sermon he talked about all of the various ideas on the end times. I’m guessing he has his own beliefs, but he ended up with something like:

“I’m an “ENDER”. However it happens it will work out in the end.”
