The takeaway point in all this below is that the God of the Bible was totally justified in giving His command to Israel to totally destroy the Canaanites.

The Canaanites Were Not Salvageable --- They Had Sunk To The Very Bottom On The Immorality Scale:
{A} Cold Blooded Murder.
{B} Incest With Close Family Members.
{C} Murdered Their Own Children {Molech}.
{D} Blood-Lust Gory Murder Religious Ceremonies.
{E} Sex With Animals.
God's purpose was to get rid of all that up there and replace it with the religion of the nation of Israel which prohibited all such vile sins.
"The Lord said to Moses, speak to the Israelites and say to them, You must not do as they do in the land of Canaan where I am bringing you.
Do not follow their practices." Leviticus 18:1-3
"Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways {listed in Leviticus 18:6-23} because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you became defiled."
"For all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you" Leviticus 18:27

So what were they doing that was so bad?
Here is the list of the sins of the Canaanites:
(1) They were having sex with their close family members. Leviticus 18:6
(2) They were having sex with their mothers. Leviticus 18:7
(3) They were having sex with their sisters. Leviticus 18:9
(4) They were having sex with their grandchildren. Leviticus 18:10
(5) They were having sex with their aunts. Leviticus 18:14
(6) They were having sex with their daughters-in law. Leviticus 18:15
(7) They were having sex with their brother's wife. Leviticus 18:16
( 8 ] They were having sex with their neighbor's wife.. Leviticus 18:20
(9) They were having homosexual sex. Leviticus 18:22
(10) They were giving their children to be murdered in sacrifice to Molech. Leviticus 18:21
Now The Canaanites Had Sunk To Bestiality.
(11) The Canaanites were having sex with animals. Leviticus 18:23
(12) Their women were specifically mentioned as having sex with animals. Leviticus 18:23
There was a total of 6 tribes that were practicing (1) through (12) up there:
Hittites Amorites Canaanites Perizzites Hivites Jebusites All 6 tribes are generally referred to as the "Canaanites." Deuteronomy 20:16-18
The command of God to the Israelites in Deuteronomy 20:16 "do not leave alive anything that breathes" was applicable only to these 6 tribes that were practicing (1) through (12) listed up-post.
All the other many tribes and cities that were living at a distance from the Canaanites were to be offered an opportunity to make peace
with the Israelites and were never the object of total annihilation as was the 6 totally corrupt Canaanite nations.
See Deuteronomy 20:11 and Deuteronomy 20:15 on the offer of peace to be made to the nations living at a distance from the Canaanites.
The reason for the offer of peace was that these nations living at a distance from the Canaanites were morally salvageable and they were accordingly shown mercy if they would agree to make peace with the Israelites.

By the way, that crowd in SF legally allowed
public nudity and the nudists took them up on

Its surprising that, so soon after the flood, the tribes were starting to go off the deep end again, as if the flood had never happened.
It looks to me that Canaan’s tribe were supposed to have gone further south into Egypt and North Africa to settle, but had settled on land that was set aside for Shem’s clan, which would be Abraham’s family. As it is, when Abraham went to Canaan in the beginning, he did so peacefully and was (mostly) accepted peacefully.
They later settled in Egypt due to the famine, and then settled in to stay. Again, they were never supposed to be in Egypt, Canaan was land promised to them, not Egypt. So while Abraham was able to settle there peacefully, when they came back centuries later they had to fight their way in.
When Israel returned they were told to drive Canaan out completely. They didn’t, so the survivors settled around and amongst them. This was in part the source of problems later. They were ordered not to intermarry with them, but again, that was ignored and was the source of problems later.

I believe the general term Canaanities was
applied to a wide variety of tribes living
at that time. The command to “totally destroy”
them only applied to 6 of those tribes. And
the absolute total” destruction was never
actually carried out because you see some
of those 6 tribes appearing later in the
Old Testament.

The Canaanites introduced a “new” level of depravity.
Very few {and maybe none} nations in history have
sunk to the level of immorality like the Canaanites.
This is why they were not salvageable and why God
ordered them destroyed.
{1} Blood-lust{in their religious rituals}
{2} They murdered their own children {in religious rituals}
{3} Murder {as in crime and violence.}
{4} Incest with close family members

I think I am in agreement with about 99% of your post. I do believe the Flood, was brought on the earth, SPECIFICALLY to kill off the Nephilim. There was a second, smaller outbreak of the Nephilim in the promised land. Once again, like with the Flood, God ordered their complete destruction. They were Nephilim, hybrids.
I would only digress slightly, in that I think the second outbreak of Nephilim, was caused by alien abductions, just like it is today. 🤗 Or, it might be like you say. We just don’t know for sure. Either way, they were there. 🤪😂😆🤣👍
However, I do understand your disgust at the Canaanites. But, when you think of what the horrible tyrants of the past have done...then you might think again.
Mass murderers of history will educate you on human nature. Murder doesn't give anyone a second chance. The Canaanites were merely depraved.
What is MORE depraved than to kill one third of a continent? Genghis Khan murdered ONE THIRD of Asia. He was especially horrible because he knew that people HID their young women and treasures. So he would leave for a few days then RETURN, knowing that people would think that he was finished with them. But, he wasn't.
Their "punishment" for hiding treasures and young women was unspeakable. We don't have the vocabulary to describe his "depravity."
The other mass murderers were "poster boys" for depravity. What WORSE depravity is there than to slaughter millions of people, all the while torturing, burning, looting, raping--and such?
The Canaanites were boy scouts compared to what this world has produced in DEPRAVITY.
The differentiation is that the Cananite hybrids were sourced in anit God efforts by the fallen angelic beings. Human depravity as with Khan is not angelic derived. Think as in ‘angelic sourced direct evil’ versus ‘angelic urged / influencing evil by humans’.
The abductions continue to happen as planned.
